Obligatory Post Halcyon thread
well the boys have done it again, I think this may have been the best Halcyon yet!
Without a doubt my best birthday ever!
Amazingly Hyperdimension of TA has the same birthday as me and not only that but we are the same age! Freaky!
I didnt get to say hi to Mangle and Steve Stranger but from what I heard both you guys were awesome
Esp when Silence was played... omg its been a while since I heard that, perhaps the best trance tune ever in my mind!
Shout out to all the regular TAs there, Hyperdimension, Webby, Helen, S_Madis, Spang, Jace and the rest
Nice to meet Morrow as well and have a bit of a chat to him.

I concur. Although I couldn't stay as long as I wanted to, what I was there for was just amazing. It continues to be the best uplifting trance night around.

What a sickkkkkkkkkkk set! but i missed out on a cd coz i was down the back at the time
oh well, great job guys
what a blast!
Man, i have had the most awesome two weeks. Last week, Viper Room in Melbourne absolutely went off its nana for the 5AM crew & i tought "how good is this!" Last night at Halcyon in Sydney, well fuck me!! It started off pretty good getting escorted to the dj booth by a delicious dancer, then got better!! Everyone i looked at in the crowd just had a huge smile from ear to ear!! I was just buzzing so much, it was amazing!
great to meet so many TA's, a community within a community, and every single one of you so supportive.
Firstly, the crew at Altproductions deserve kudos for the splendid effort they put into the night. Marlo, Mike, morro, diggs, & co... thank you! I know how hard they work, Its a labor of love that probably costs them in the hip pocket, they deserve all our support.
Thanks for so many positive comments following my set, a dj is only as good as the crowd & the crowd is what makes nights like Halcyon & 5AM so special.
Thanks to Chookie & Bragi for their hospitality & for lending me the V-One mix of 7 Cities, it went down a treat. Nice to meet the Canberra crew. Big ups to Webmeister, djway, skware, djhelenk, nervous, etc..
Erratik, pm me your mailing adress & i'll make sure you get a cd... same goes for anyone else that missed out. The track early on may have been Solid Globe - North Pole, a few people came up to the booth enquiring about it. I'm spewing i forgot to play Electrobuzz, but maybe matt darey will play it for you himself in October. (shhh!!! you didnt read this)
We have Sample Gee playing at 5AM this week, so there's no letting up for me.
I cant wait to visit Sydney again.
Awesome night forsure ! lots of great tracks played by the Melbourne boys, but the highlight of my night had to be Midway - Monkey forest (Cultivate mix). Absolutely went ballistic to this track, long live Ralphie B !
I think this had to be one of the biggest Ta gatherings of all time, met soooooo many Ta's for time including erratik and bassaholix, great to finally meet you guys. The usual suspects were all there web, dj_helen_k, djway, jace (always love to party with you bro), glimista, nixter, Romp, lethal, hyperdimension, nervous, skware, chookie and bragi ! all you guys rule ! its always a pleasure to party with you
well Ive already started counting down to the next Halycon, its a shame that we cant have events like this more often, but none the less it makes it all the more exciting ! hope to see you guys soon.
had a fun night!
great sets all around
the highlight track for me was
Push - The Legacy
hey which above and beyond track was played last nite?
far from in love prolly

yes, and one of those tracks I REALLY WANT!!! right at the beginning of the night, bout 11.30pm.... anyone?
Well if it's my favourite Mesh - Purple Haze got played about that time as i sprinted from upstairs to the dancefloor to get a better listen to it loud. That is a fucking beautiful track.
Had a great time, great to see some of you again. My fav moment was hearing Push - Strange World 2000 remake again, a dancefloor moment was going on then as well.
Apparently i had a few of those moments on friday night. Great vibe in that place all night, great music and well it was 100/10. Thanks to everyone. Hope some of you are going to see Astral Projection on the 2nd of August.
Have a great week.
Simon
whoa, sick stuff, walked to glebe and back after it, eventually found day dreams, got back to canberra around 4, got home around 7, sick stuff at GAS, you guys shoulda come upstairs for the canberra boys' set, they place a breaks mix of FAA and the track that goes reach out for me.... reach out,,,
lasers were sick stuff, like crazy playing asteroids on the big screen in the middle of peak time madness going on.
Thanks to bragi / chookie for being great hosts for the bbq, catch you guys next time.
OMFG!!!!

What a night and weekend!! Finally time to stop moving!
Halcyon was just an amazing event .. music was just pumping non-stop all night, I knew when Mangler started off the night with Mesh - Purple Haze it was gunna be a massive one .. farken how right was I
.. all the way through to Chakra - Love Shines Through at the end of the night
Absolutely all the crew representing, good to see, farken too many people to be naming names now since I'll forget and get people in trouble, but respect to everyone who showed up, partying with the best damn bunch of people in Sydney just really separates this night from all the others!
Now everyone's gotta be up for more Halcyon madness next weekend, in Canberra this time!!
Farken 10pm Sunday night and I'm still scattered, work tomorrow will be interesting...
Oh well its completely worth it!!!
peace
I know what you mean webby, Im still feeling it too.
Awsome night, I think all that needs to be said has been said. Highlight for me..... too many. Nothing but you....I almost jumped form upstairs down into the crowd for that one. The sound of arena....Man Liquid Ms stuff is just so full of energy, if you havnt got one of their CDs I suggest you pick one up. TY marlo for dropping it for me
The people, the music, the visuals, the venue.....awsome night, dunno how they are going to top it, but im sure they will find a way too

Man so many syd.au.ta's to still meet. (maybe time for another meet up ;P)
My review of the night(taken from Here )
Halcyon:Space Invaders
Upon walking through the door, I knew we were in for a treat. Some blipy bloopy sifi music was playing and a few lazers were blinking. We were entering the space station Halcyon. This was the destination for the night.
Rushing straight into play with the Space Invaders game I set the high score(which would of lasted 5 mins), before being asked to make sure no one went up to Bohem. Down in the trance room some theme songs of space/spooky events was playing, with The X-Files and Red Dwarf being my fav (and only two I could pick).
Mangler graced the decks with some dancers escorting him to the decks. They then danced to his first few tracks. Once Mangler was in the swing of things it was time for me to go up and hear some breaks. Having over the last few months of Halcyon becoming more a fan, it was my duty to make sure the standard was at a level I liked. Lish was killing it. I stayed up there for a few tracks and a bit of a chat, but felt drawn back to the trance.
Upon going back down Diggs and Morro were getting ready to play their first track. I stayed down for what was about 3-4 tracks before heading back up to Bohem to catch Canberra's Finest Exports; Jeff Drake & Mikah Freeman.
I once again, had NO idea they would be that good. I stayed up and watched them for the best bit of 20 mins, and spent the next 30-40 mins just listening. Track of the set (that I heard) was 21st Century Fux - Sunspirit (? remix) and For an Angel (? remix). Watching the guys was something to see. With two mixers, and 4 dex(1 of which was a CDJ) going at it, it was just amazing to see how they worked it. They were throwing sounds everywhere, dropping in vocals over break downs and creating their own break down, all with a very break beat prog feel. They are the closest I've heard to the big man James Zabiela, and they actually reminded me of him
The set was recorded so I can't wait to hear it again.
Heading back down stairs I caught the end of Diggs and Morro's set with tracks such as Midway - Monkey Forest (even tho I was sure it was Inca that got played) and Lost Lynx - 3 Seasons being played.
Next up to the decks was Steve van Strangis. He walked up with the Death March playing and a cloak around him, like the true master he is. His set was mixed as tight as I knew he would mix, with me dancing for a few tracks such as PvD - Nothing but you, System F - Solstice, AvB - Yet Another Dub. I'd used up all my energy and went up stairs to the little room in the corner, which turned out to be like a ITM room was crazy. Spent my time chilling up there with all the guys and girls, and also track spotting. Between Spang (I don't know how!), Nismo, TranceTasman, Ton-E and myself we nailed them all
Delirum - Silence was the track of the night whilst I was up stairs, with Alibi - Eternity (NU NRG remix [think]) being a close second.
Liquid M then stepped up to the next to bang out the pace and bring things to a close. Starting off with one of Marlo's own productions, the guys played on the edge that they always do, hard-er melodic trance. Goldscan - Sunrise, Liquid M - Sound of Arena, Liquid M - Dreammachine were my highlights of my set. After they finished they placed on an encore track. From the very 1st phrase I new the track, Chakra - Love Shines Through. Everyone there was singing the track was a great way to finish.
Other random moments of the night worth commenting on is/are:-
The asian woman dancing REALLY crazily, and MAN she was good!
And Susan giving me a massage whist I was trying to play Astrorids. Man I was SO close to beating the high score. Even tho I didn't look distracted, I was :P
