Thumbs down New information regarding PvD in Philly (yet ANOTHER example of Philly fucking up)

Don't even bother coming people...

Transit decided to pay PvD $28,000 for this 2 hour gig...and they're looking to book Luis Diaz as the opener for $2,500...

this means the patrons have to pay...

...at the tune of a $50 ADMISSION FEE!!

what's even worse is that no private jet or transportation has been especially arranged for pvd after his central park gig, so the people at transit aren't even sure if pvd can even make it to philly for his gig on time...

I knew Transit was going to fuck this up...People that aren't from the area have no idea how terribly frustrating the nightlife situation in Phily has become...

Posted by Ekstasis on Jul-12-2003 17:18:

Thats exactly what I was expecting to happen.

Posted by QuickStep on Jul-12-2003 17:29:

I should of listen to you when you told me to watch out for Transit. I tried to have a little more faith in them, but this stinks.

I'm staying my ass in NYC after PvD. Maybe hit Arc or something.

I hate Transit being the only club in Philly with money. We all get screwed in the end.

Posted by LuNaSeA on Jul-13-2003 01:20:

are u 100% sure on this???

Posted by Highmay on Jul-13-2003 01:50:

Arrow

about 85% - 90%

I heard a few weeks ago that it was only a 2 hour set. 50$ cover sounds about right for Transit also. They love to rip off their customers. The majority of people there wouldnt even notice who is spinning anyway.

Posted by LuNaSeA on Jul-13-2003 15:05:

well if this is true, then jayme, you should write an email to paul and markus saying how much of a ripoff this is and how unfair it is...

if paul/markus told made events to lower their price to no more than 40 for 6hr sets, i'm sure they would tell transit to do the same..

hmm

if this is the case, and PVD can't get to Philly in time for his set, mebbe he can spin at ARC for another charity event =p

Posted by Ekstasis on Jul-14-2003 05:42:

I wouldnt be all that suprised if Transit never even booked PvD. They will charge people the outrageous cover, then use the excuse that he got hung up in NYC.

Posted by Highmay on Jul-14-2003 13:14:

well....it is confirmed on his webby:

31.08.2003 USA tbc
29.08.2003 Dallas tbc
28.08.2003 Philadelphia Transit - 1.00 am
28.08.2003 New York summerstage
24.08.2003 Plymouth Gatecrasher

but transit doesnt know shit when it comes to treating their customers correctly...somebody HAS to step up and say something...if this turns out to be true, i refuse to let it slide, especially when it involves one of the best DJs in the world...

Posted by arturob on Jul-14-2003 13:37:

good luck guys :P

Posted by tiny butterfli on Jul-14-2003 13:41:

2 hours?!?!

$50

If this is true I'm only gonna hit up the Central Park gig. That's ridiculous.

Posted by arturob on Jul-14-2003 13:41:

btw... 8.31 = Miami

beh!

This stinks. I can't believe that Transit is getting PvD, and it's going to be $50! The last time I saw PvD in Philly was when Space booked him 3 years ago. Man, was that a magical night. He completely moved the crowd. Of course the system there is crap so he let everyone in the world know in that month's Mixmag.

I think I'm staying in NYC, I can't justify coming back home for 2 hours of PvD @ $50. beh to that too

Thumbs down

hmmmm...on their website
http://www.transitnightclub.com/
they have tomiie 06-26-2003 $10 before midnight, now i know tomiie isnt as big of a dj as paul and i'm sure he doesnt cost/ask as much to play but $50 is a little ridiculous for 2 hrs of pvd even for the pvd stalker like me..anyone know how much tiesto was? grrr this sucks

Yes... 2 hours of Paul van Dyk for $50 SUCKS ASS !!!
Yes... Transit sucks ASS !!!!!
Yes... It might not be worth it to drive 2 hours to see pvd for 2 hours and have to drive back....

BUT Paul van Dyk in PHILLY???

YOU HAVE TO GO... F the drive... F the $50 bucks.... It's F**kin Paul van Dyk....

You DEAL...

Posted by djbounce on Jul-15-2003 02:12:

I'm personally opting for Central Park, since it's 4 hour set vs 2 hours in Philly... Transit sux anyway, the sound system in there is horrible...

Posted by Konijn on Jul-15-2003 02:29:

Tiesto was $25 @ Transit this past june

tickets were $25 online, and without informing anyone, Transit kicked the price up to $40 at the door on the night of the show...

The Sunday before Labor Day

but PVD has played on every day of the week, even if it's on a school/work night

Posted by Ekstasis on Jul-15-2003 03:00:

It is kind of funny that all the Philly people who are "into" trance, are going to be in Central Park and arent going to bother going to Transit.
