"the thing about techno is that its just robots making music. I mean, you could take one techno song, reverse it, and it would be the same thing. Its really just a bunch of beeps, made from robots."

Notice that he/she turned on sarcasm mode AFTER writing about Darude. So, he/she was 100% serious.

Oh, hey, you should alsot try Sylver - Turn the tide, awesome vocals

Posted by elena on Jul-13-2003 00:37:

i dont quite get it...
you could simply get on kazaa and search the term :"techno:"
the results will consist of everything and anything "technified" starting from some national anthem, classical piece to yer top 10 club music.

good luck

Posted by mndeg on Jul-13-2003 01:12:

i knew this post was trouble when i saw the word techno together with remixes, as most remixes are not of the techno genre

techno eh, whats this aboot

Posted by mndeg on Jul-13-2003 01:30:

duncan sheik - on a high (gabriel & dresden mix) <-not exactly named that

and size ddd - nobody listens to techno although its not really a remix, all it is is a sample of "nobody listens to techno" ACTUALLY a techno song which is probably what you aren't looking for

is this a new DI tactic to convince us everything is techno from sash to Dj Isaac to the foo fighters ?

oh wow you guys are cool! I hate it when people get so ticked when someone uses the word techno to describe the electronic music genre, so maybe i should have used that , electronica style remix of other genres... but i wasnt asking for specifics like progressive, house, hard, trance whatever , you know what i was asking for. Yah im just getting into the whole electronic music community and one thing i dont get is why you obsess over the specific categories, why the f*ck do you care so much when someone says techno! And no i dont want an explanation of all the different types of electronic music i can find that on some other thread ripping someone apart for using the word techno, I know there are different types of it but whatever i dont need the ENTIRE thread dedicated to how noobish i am for not remembering not to use techno...

I agree. People on here obsess too much about being "technonically correct".

Although if you dont name things correctly it gets confusing.

Welcome to TA

It's not that we get pissed because you're not calling it by it's specific genre... Techno is a much different genre than trance. Sure they're both electronic, but it seems most people who like trance don't care much for techno and vice versa. A more correct term to group all EDM is electronica.
As for remixes of other genres.

Avril Lavigne - I'm With You (Leama & Moore Remix)
Coldplay - Clocks -- A ton of great remixes.
U2 - Another Day (? The PvD one forget the name)

All come to mind.

when people generalize by calling all edm "techno" its like someone going onto a strictly hardcore rock board and saying how much they like punk music or something, its two different things, like trance is different from techno yadda yadda. for some of use it gets really annoying when you have to listen to your friends say how much they love "techno" when you know they are listening to trance or cheeze and if you played actual techno for them thy would cry.

seeing it on the boards where we would like to have everyone be as educated as possible gets people annoyed and they get sarcastic. personally i dont blame them for jumping on your ass because you apparently know the difference and dont take the time to just write e.d.m. or specify trance or prog, thats bordering on ignorant and disrespectful

and dont get all defensive and pissy, it just makes you look childish

Avril Lavigne - I'm With You (Leama & Moore Remix)
