question to calgary TA's

yo, so i was having, i guess you could call it an argument, with good 'ol defstar keith. it was about upcoming shows and blah blah. i told him that a good show to do would be James Holden and Ferry Corsten, same night, have holden play 9-12, and ferry 12-3. now. keith thinks this show will bomb (ie no people) i say it will fuckin go off. he has no idea who holden is, he's heard the name but i dont think he's ever heard a tune he's produced or a set of his knowing what it is. this is still a big longshot, but he said if i did the promo for free (to have $$ to pay for holden) then he would consider doing it, as he already wants to bring corsten back sometime in the near future. now, i saw this same show in TO @ guv on my birthday and it was fuckin SICK!! holden played a stormer, then corsten came on and it just went wilder, so i know it will work musically, im thinking like labour day weekend or some shit, where peeps dont have to work the next day kinda thing. SO MY QUESTION IS, HOW DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD DO? YOU, THINK PEOPLE WOULD PAY $20-25 FOR THIS SHOW? cuz i'm going to keep pushing this idea, and i will do promo for free just to shut his mouth. lol, im on a mission.

ya mon.

is that really a question or more like an annoucment because i would defintly be down..

Posted by dartrance on Jul-12-2003 20:21:

I think it would go down for sure

first off all ferry is touring canada labour day weekend (quebec already announced) and with lots of promo i think would fucking bring in a packed crowd..

i dont think a lot of people know who holden is but it would add to the bill for sure

and of course having the monday off would bring out a lot more people i think

Its about time FERRY COMES BACK!!

I was at this show in T.O. with Tuss and let me tell you it was off the hook. Holden and Corsten complimented eachother perfectly. From what i could remember it was pure bliss for like 7 hours. This show would be off the hook if it goes down, i think that Ferry has enough pull to bring lots of people any wayz so Holdewn would be just a bonus. And if this did happen im sure the next day there would be a lot of this being said"man who was that dj before ferry he was wicked"

Posted by j_spot on Jul-12-2003 20:38:

yes the show would sell. Of course it would.
I think Keith is losin it. He doesnt have faith anymore. He brings in sure bets taking no risk. This show isnt really a risk, its a fuckin opportunity lost for him if he doesnt do it.

^ exactly jason, THIS IS BY NO MEANS an announcement. just an idea that will work, for sure. i know ferry is in canada that time, which is why it would work even better, im gonna try my best to pull this one off, it's somewhat a longshot, but im gonna fuckin try. even selling 800 tix @ $20 will produce $16,000, more than enough to cover productiuon costs, it is really a no brainer, but then again so is he sometimes, so who knows.

i think this is a really good idea... i couldn't make it to armin because of work but i will quit my job if i couldn't make it to this show!

Posted by BonGWateR on Jul-13-2003 03:21:

Sounds wicked. I would think enough people would come just to see Ferry, but the two of them would be even better.

Posted by Tony Morello on Jul-14-2003 23:17:

just make sure it's promoted like hell
maybe start with a few teaser flyers and then as it gets closer whip out the full flyers

i'm game for helping out, let me know if you need help

yes and yes
wtf kinda question is this?

Posted by bananapeel on Jul-26-2003 11:02:

Two thumbs up. Bring on Holdent & Corsten. That sounds wicked, the perfect 1-2 progressive/trance combo.

Let's analzye this:

We all easily know how good Corsten is already, so that would already attract the people. But watch out for Holden, one of the better kept secrets (like Satoshi Tomiie who just very recently rocked Calgary). Just find any track that James Holden produces/remixes. They're all freaking amazing, the guy's all about musical genius.

Suggested listens:
Holden & Thompson - Nothing
Holden - A Break in the Clouds
Holden - Solstice

Case closed.

Satoshi played tonight, and while the music was rocking, the turnout was less than stellar. Barely above a regular friday night @ skybar.

dont think it will be happening

He is already booked for

thurs - la
friday - quebec
saturday - montreal / vancouver (summerlove)
sunday - toronto
