when cueing a record up, while i'm pulling it backwards, I can see the cartridge shake a little . . . is this normal? It doesn't look like it should be doing that . . . also, I have the Stanton 500AL IIs on there right now, how heavy should that tonearm be?

yah.. the cartridge shakes... everything is good unless it skips when you pullback..

Not sure about your tone arm weight, but my friend had some stantons and he said they sucked ass for back cueing.
