New night needs DJs!!!

Hi, I'm starting up a night, Alchemy, at the Fez Club in Sheffield. The "pilot" night takes place on August 24th Bank Holiday Sunday.

The night has come about to fill Sheffield's ever widening trance gap. Gatecrasher events in Sheffield are as rare as hen's teeth and so it seems like the right thing to do. The concept of the night is to bridge the gap between up and coming nights (Young Guns, BabyPassion, Rubic etc) and the ever decreasing number of "big" club nights. This will see up and coming DJ's warming up for established and respected DJ's at a mint venue at an even minter price.

The first line-up is as follows:

Marc West (Passion)
Andi Durrant (Galxy 105, Vision, Gatecrasher),
Stevie G (Goodgreef),
Ol Brooks (Vision)
NJ Roddy (Passion debut this August!)

Doors 9pm-3am. Price 6 (bargain!)

Will any DJ's that have some past experience of playing out and a real desire to see a night like this succeed please PM me because I could potentially have a lot of dates to fill!

Cheers! (and what you think of first line-up btw???)

line up looks poor to be fair mate, i mean i havent heard most play but its hardly a line up thats gonna bring in a big crowd. Having a policy that says u should have proir experience b4 askin to play is crap as well. I mean there are many people who can dj as well as the top djs out there but cant get a gig cuz of things like this. and these people could potentially be payed peanuts compared to the so called names on this line up and have pretty much the same pull for a crowd (i mean they are gonna bring shit loads of mates for a start like any ukta dj for example). im sorry that all sounds a little harsh isnt meant to, just putting forward my view on it.

the lineup looks ok never heard of the bottom 2 but marc west (matt hardwick wannabe) andy durrant and stevie g will get the crowds in, especially in a sheffield venue

ravemonkey is right in one respect, that you should maybe give one or two ppl club debuts every now and again, but on the other side of the coin u want ppl with experience to get the night started

i have no club experience as yet but i have experience playing house partys etc.. what kind of styles are you looking for?

the problem with all these up and coming trance dj type things is all up and coming trance djs play the same fucking tunes or style of tunes! which gets a bit annoying (eg passion last month was nearly9 hours of uplifting trance of the same style)

NJ Roddy r the daddy, heard some of his mixes from UKC, VERY good

ur only saying that coz it was passion, so step back for one second

most of the night was pure trance and you know it, gotg a bit boring at about tulip/bagguley

sheriden was diffewrent for his first half of his set the rest really led int othe many trance dj's after him.

and aksew was jsut mint.

ravemonkey > the "so called names" stevie g, ol brooks and nj roddy are being paid less than peanuts! they're getting a few bottles of beer! Not sure if Passion has a following from newcastle, but Marc West is resident and has a big following. surprised you're not impressed with him. Andi Durrant is the local Galaxy radio Trance DJ, but he's not cheesy at all (he often does sets back2back with Crasher's Nick Riley)and will appeal to die hard clubbers and the more mainstream.

as for the "must have experience" bit, this night is a step up for those that have played at small or up and coming nights and is a step up from that. there are however plenty of nights which will take on anyone who can put together a decent CD. XS Bar (Wakefield) BabyPassion (Loughborough), Rubic (derby) and Crasher Young Guns (Sheffield) all spring to mind. but most people start out at local bar's just getting used to a bit of an audience before they do that.

as for styles...I'm wanting warm up sets (10:30-11:30) of any style.

not to sound morbid but the night imo was abit of a flop, it was on charging form until tulip decided he'd had enough of us enjoying ourseleves and was going to trash it

none of the usual passion atmosphere or things that imo make it better than crasher and code were there...
