Good deal for this set?

hey fellaz, havnt been on here for awhile, just wanted to ask if im getting a good deal for this set, or if i can get even better, i've done most of the research online and some stores this is what im getting:

2x Technics SL1200MK5 with slipmat and 500AL cartridge included for $1035
1x Pioneer DJM600 for $1899
1x Pioneer HDJ-1000 Headphones for $299

im getting a deal for $4000 if i pick up, do u rekon i can get prices lower by doing some more searching and bargaining?? or do u rekon this is a sweet price?

Only get the Pioneer headphones if you never plan to use em in a club. If you're gonna spend all that cash, at least get Senheiser headies (you cant compare the clarity) & talk em down, way down.. ring around other places & tell em you've got the cashola to pick up the shit today. Ring interstate & you'll get cheaper prices even if they have to ship em to you. The same deal is available on line at www.dmcrecords.com.au/online for $3650 & i'm sure you'll be able to find even cheaper than that.

do you really need a DJM600?? i assume its for home.

oh, THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!,yeh, was gonna get hd-25 but with the price already being $4000 didnt have enuff to get the hd's so i had to lower my equipment, i went to central station records before and they said Retail price was $5200 and they were willing to give it to me for $4200 would of been ripped off hard if i was to get it there, but i dunno about getting it that low in Brisbane, there aren't many shops that sell TT's in brissie that i know of, also visited Lightsounds.com.au, sounds like dmc are offering a real good deal, im heading to Lightsounds @ Lutwyche in the weekend, so i'll see if i can get it ne lower,

cheerz bro!

btw, im serious about dj'ing thats why i want to get the pioneer mixers, that way later on i dont need to upgrade.

edit: just checked out the site, its about $4100 though

Also try calling
DJ City (Melb) 03 95795991
and look up One Stop Dee Jay in Sydney or Melbourne and call em. & Pro Light & Sound in Melb.
bargain with them, they'll match any price you can get.
Thats $4100 if you add them individually. Package sets are always at least $300 or $400 off the cost of buying them individually. Say you saw the add in Melbourne's Beat magazine.

If you're that serious get a Heath & Allen mixer.

ive never tried this so dont take my word for it, but you can definitly look into it ... chemical records sell equipment and it seems to be a hell of a lot cheaper for brand new stuff. They are very reliable with their records shipment so I dont see a reason why they wouldnt be with more valuable equipment, but thats if you want your gear to be sent from another country, not sure how much they would charge on headphones. Anyways, its www.chemical-records.co.uk, email them for any questions, but from what I saw their prices seem to be pretty dam good when you convert it to aussie $.

good luck with it

I wouldn't mail order from overseas, if you have to return it, that can be a pain in the arse and aus distributor's won't want to know you. Also if you buy from o's you can be slugged duty by Aus post when you pick it up.

Ebay can be a good place and lot's of new gear ends up for sale on there, im not sure whats on there at the moment though.

It def pays to ring around though. Sanity Dance Arena prices in melb at the Bourke Street store have been good lately and paying cash can reduce the price a fair bit. Be sure and ask to speak to the manager.

What's wrong with the HDJ1000s for club use?

Posted by dj_nomiz on Jul-17-2003 11:05:

well i checked out chemical records and i gotta say, their equipments are really, really cheap, i calculated into aussie dollars, roughly around $3200 for the setup with hd25's and some better carts. that was the price without shipping fees though, and im also asking for a discount, so if i get it under $3500 i'll be very happy. i emailed them asking them to calculate it for me including the shipping fees so if all goes well and i get a great deal, i won't mind trying my luck by getting my equipment from oversees even if i do get charged a bit from tax etc. unless it exceeds something like $100

thanx for the info guyz, great help

There is an easy way around regarding the overseas orders tax issue. I do buy alot of stuff from overseas There is a 10% GST on valuable items. They don't charge for petty things like DVDs CDs etc. But if you get things like LCD monitors, expensive spare parts etc they do charge at the post office. Tell the sender mark it as a BIRTHDAY GIFT package. They have a section on the postal label stating why the goods been send to you etc. Tell them to fill it as BD gift. I'd get away few times with that trick

PS; I hope no Postal or TAX office worker AuTA members among us

I knew it was too good to be true...

try looking in this thread for more dj shops...

http://www.inthemix.com.au/forum/sh...?threadid=59544

And there really isn't anywhere that sells 1200mk2 for $800, guess i'll have to fork out the extra $50 for one.

If you're used to driving Hyundai, you probably dont mind driving a Hyundai.. but if you're used to driving a Porsche, you wouldnt want to drive a Hyundai.

with the overseas thing, you have to pay GST on top (10%) as well as a customs duty (not sure of the exact amount of this, but somewhere from 5%-20%), so you'll have to factor in a 15-30% increase on costs. You'll probably also have to pay postage and insurance on it (not sure, but guesstimate would be $50-150)

Oh and another rave on about the HD25s, they rock (a mate picked my pair up in singapore for $305, nice ). My one gripe with them is the cord is too short, and you have to be careful not to yank it out of the mixer when choosing records, chatting up chicks, ... It is however replaceable, and I've seen a few cords out there that are damn cool. It might be worth replacing it with a technics / pioneer cord if you're gonna be club DJing (at the moment I pretty much only use mine in my discman and occasional mixes at friends places)
