Problems with Vestax PCV 275 Mixer...
Hello
I'm hoping someone can help me understand something, but first...
PROBLEM: This mixer is supposed to have a superior cross fader, but after a short while it starts to crackle.
SOLUTION: I'm sure this goes with all mixers but using "electronic contact cleaner" spray will clean the gunge off the cross fader components and make it work like new.
Anyways back to my problem
I have hooked up an effects unit to the SEND and RETURN loop. Does anyone else have an annoying high pitched wooshing distorting noise when hooking it up in this fassion?
ive hooked up the Korg Kaoss Pad 2 and a Pioneer EFX 500 through this manner and the noise occurs. If I hook it up direct, as in OUTPUT of the mixer to the INPUT of the effects unit and the OUTPUT of the effects unit to the INPUT of the amp, there is no annoying noise.
I would like to use the SEND/RETURN feature cause then I can switch off the effects unit and still play, as well as have some control with my mixer.
any thoughts or solutions? Is it the fault of my mixer thus being too bad for me?
thanks for all your help
hmm.. my fader has never crackled, had the mixer over a year now.
anyway, i haven't tried the send and return on the mixer either. you tried hooking it up the other way?

It's more popular with hiphop/reggae DJs too. next time u go buy a mixer my friend, i recommend Behringer strongly. affordable yet not cheap, light weight yet heavy duty. It's an amazing mixer. or just go with club standards if u can afford em. Stay away from pioneers. The fadders and knobs feel like they're gonna break under u! if u decide to buy one.. be extra careful cuz i feel like it's gonna snap under my fingers. |
well Mr. Rocco rocky, now u can have the vestex of mine,so u dun need to spend that much,u ganna take care of my baby vestex,k??

I Dont know what youre talking about, had my PCV-275 for over a year and it works great, the crossfader is smooth and works great, sound quality is great, no malfunctions what so ever...
Vestax are a great company for mixers, better then Pioneer by far.
the pcv fader is an interesting thing...
the metal that contacts the plating prolly isn't touching well enough. i used to have the mixer... well i still do but don't use it.
i actually broke off the metal bar on the bottom of the fader and forced the contacts on so they're running perectly.(then forced the contacts on and put the bar back in a kinda weird way) the only deal is it's a little sticky on one end and i'm not sure how long it'll last but there is not crackling.
if the bottom bar is not low enough, the fader will crackle. and in my opinion that should be covered under warranty 'cause it's a manufacturing defect but yeah...
if you wanna know more of what i did i'll tell you just gimme a shout and i'll explain it a little better.
