Armin TA meetup in Vancouver -- let's get planning

I don't think I need to tell you all that Armin will be here on August 8th. His show is at "The Cave" (the old Rage), and he'll be playing a 3 hour set from 1am - 4am.

Since this date is fast approaching, we should figure out an appropriate meetup spot in order to give us ample time to contact his management and have this arranged.

My suggestion is Sushi. Other ideas?

how much are tix to armin?

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jul-18-2003 18:37:

Who cares? =P

I think $25 though, hehe.

Posted by Widget on Jul-18-2003 19:14:

I don't think tickets are out yet, but they'll probably be in the usual range (25 - 30 odd)...

damn, I'm going to have to save up for this and the Above and Beyond at Vivid.

Sushi sounds like a good plan - Danny seemed to have good contacts for that.

does he eat fish tho?
dumb question, but i have come across some dutch who dont like or eat fish
but sushi will be awesome.

i've got dave brady's email adress for when we need it. anyone has some awesome persuasive writing skills? hehe

I suggest going to someplace nice, but the food is cheap. When we met up here in Calgary some people didnt show becuase they couldnt affor the food.

Posted by kate on Jul-18-2003 22:05:

Sean has great writing skills, have him write the email
I don't care what we eat, as long as Armin shows up! Actually, even if he didn't, I'm super excited to meet all you TAs

This sounds so good. Very excited to see Armin and even more excited at the chance to meet him. If any one needs help setting things up please write me an email [email protected] or message me. I would be more than happy to help !

Otherwise i'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.
Cheers, Sean

Count me in. Sushi sounds good to me. Or white spot, good canadian dining.

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jul-19-2003 23:06:

Hmmm, the white spot on Georgia and Seymour could be a good idea. Very central, lots of space in there, beers on tap, and decent cheap food.

What do you guys think about that? There'll be something for everyone on the menu there at least.

White Spot!? Yah we would be showing Armin good times. Ha ha ha thats funny. Sorry no offence to the person who thought of that. I am liking the sushi idea better.

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jul-19-2003 23:41:

Oh come on it's not THAT bad =)

I prefer Sushi myself. My top recommendation would be The Irish Heather in gastown though. Best pints in the city and amazing food. Only problem is that no minors would be allowed (do we have any minors coming?) and the food is a little pricy (15ish for a meal, but it's top restaurant quality).

Do you look like you can pass for 19? I can't see there being problems at the Heather if you're the only one underage. Personally I've never been carded there and I've been going since I was 19 or so.

Posted by moth on Jul-20-2003 02:31:

Well I can buy cigarettes for people without much problem. So I guess I could pass for 19. Not that I would plan to drink anyways.

hahahaha
i'm sorry guys, but i'm with justin on this one, might as well take armin to denny's hehehehe

irish heather sounds good. dont know the place, but i guess we'll have to trust sean on that one. are there any places closer to the rage?

adam, i think if you start growing a little beard or some sort of facial hair, you could pass for 19. how are those fake IDs coming?

oh yeah, sean, should i send you dave brady's email adress so you can pull out your convincing skills and get writing?

Dude (or dudette?) that is a great idea

*stops shaving

I guess white spots arent as nice in Vancouver as the ones in new west. I'll bet you Mr. Van Buuren loves white spot.

Anyhoo, funny you should mention Apri, I did grow some facial hair! woohoo! Well equipped.

Hello!

*Raises hand*

Count me in!

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jul-21-2003 02:41:

Okay, I'll give you guys until Tuesday to come up with a better place than The Irish Heather, at which point I'll be e-mailing armin's manager. It's in gastown across the street from The Blarney Stone/Club212 (or wtf it's called)/loft6. Awesome little place, and we will have no problem getting a reservation for a table of around 10-16 (doubt there'll be more than that).

Place: The Irish Heather
Address: 217 Carrall Street
Map: http://yp2.superpages.ca/supermaps/...x=212&map.y=125
Date: August 8, 2003
Time: 6:30pm?? 7:00pm??

NOTE: This is a 19+ venue, so if you're underage then come at your own risk.

Elena, please PM me his address; will be firing an email off on Tuesday =)
