-- putting 2 devices into one channel
putting 2 devices into one channel
hey i was woundering if there is any way to manipulate the hookup on one chanel so that you can input 2 devices into it ( i want to hook my laptop onto my mixer but i dont have enough channels) and if not is there any way you can use the mic channel as an extra channel?
well i haven't done this before but you could split the right and left channels (the red and white hookups) to different devices and not connect the red cable from one device and not connect the white cable from the other device whilst device one is connected via white and device two is connected via red.
yea but then it would play only one side of the music, ill probly have to get an adapter or something
What kind of mixer are you using? that would help to know.
Depending on what setup you have, if you have turntables than you plug your laptop into your CD port on whichever channel you want, if you have a CDJ setup, I dont think it matters which port you plug your laptop into. This is all dependent on whether you have a phono/cd channel split.
i have the vmx-200 thats the problem
each of your primary channels on the vmx200 can be switched between the phono and line inputs, on the fly. You have a switch at the top of the board for the channel input selection. Put your mic in line1, your deck into phono1, your laptop into line2, and your deck into phono2. You have 4 inputs right there!!!
I'm getting the VMX300 (it's currently in the mail, on the way, I can't wait!!) and on that one I have 3 channels. 2 primary and one mic, but each channel can switch from line to phono, so I can actually have 6 total inputs. Although that many would get quite confusing.
