Counter-strike

I used to nplay counter-strike alot back about a year ago,then stopped playing for about a year now. I am about to go back into it, so I wanted to know what should I kmow after I download? Is there things i should know like addons, patches, extra things I need after I download, fast servers, which severs to go into, ect. Please let me know, thanks.....

i dont play counterstrike, i play unreal tournament..its fucking awesome, i love that game haha since school was ending this last 2 weeks thats all we'd do, we would take one exam, then just play unreal for like 3 hours .... my nickname on it is satan hehe..
and you can find alot of plug-ins and shit like that at www.download.com

go to the cs skins site and customize the look of your weapons skins and model skins and whatnot. adds a different feel to the game and most of them look better than the regular ones. there a link to the site @ www.counter-strike.net

hahah...that is exactly what i did....UT rulez...and one of our teachers was a big fan of it too so we never got fucked over 4 playing it...there are some goddamn sweet patches for it

just go update your half life first
then download the full CS setup file from counter-strike.net

and done
i would use gamespy but its all personal preference
go download skins or use default

Counterstrike

I have counterstike and don't get me wrong I think it's a really cool game but I haven't been playing it due to the fact that I am hooked on Deltaforce Landwarrior. I only can find one thing about counterstike that I don't like you have to wait 5 min before you can come back in the game if you die right off the bat. Deltaforce Landwarrior you just hit the space bar and your right back in. If you get a chance try it sometime.

that's not what bugs me. it's the actual players themselves that bug me. most of em are ****heads. no respect whatsoever. i stopped playin' cs a few weeks ago cause i got re-hooked on diablo 2.

do any of you play starcraft online??

So would I need Half-Life installed in order to play counter-strike? Or is there another way around this..

I'm pretty sure that you need half life installed on your computer to run the counterstrike MOD but I also saw the counter stike game in the store. So i'm guessing if you have the counterstrike MOD only then you would need to have Half life.

Ya i quit playin cs for like 6 months, now im back in action. Back up to no good. Jd icq me and ill tell ya what serv im on, we can play in a central florida one.

There are too many hacks for CS. You either get the hacks or don't play the game. You won't be able to enjoy the game when some cheater is nailing you with heat shots from hundreds of yards away.

In fact, I have those hacks. I've test only a few so far, they work. I think CS is going down the tubes. I have yet to play CS for a couple of years now.

ya...there's always a few losers using aimbots and wallhacks on our servers
...really p******* people off, and i think it's only making things worse

btw. there's two versions of c-s...one is the half-life mod, which u need h-l installed to use, the other is a stand-alone c-s game which both work together, but need different files

Not true.. the cheating scene has died out rapidly in 1 or 2 months after "version" 1.0.. no real cheatmakers brought new shit out.. and since the smaller sites just stole their stuff from them.. there is hardly anything circulating nmore.. theres still that seethru wallhack thingie.. but it makes the game even uglier than it is and well it gets boring and is weak to play with it will make ya less skill less.. oh yeah some cheats are .sys .reg editers so happy cheating.. a anti virus program wont sniff that out

I 2 used to play cs.. average score was at least 15 - 5 .. Last time i played it was more like 50 - 6 People start to call you cheater bla bla.. im forced to open another can of "thinking"... which most cs players cant.. they just walk past every corner box opening and get assraped etc..

i agree with lynx the cs community sucks ass its one of the crappiest around. All them leet hacker wannabe lamers.. bah.. Ya give em a headshot and there starts the bitching..

I did find a few cool players who wont bitch about high scores etc.. cause it IS possible without cheating.. some people DO know the camping place.. ya CAN see guns sticking out.. ya COULDVE seen someone go in their lamerespot etc etc

when u watch someone hiding behind a closed door and shooting people running past, or one guy get 5 head shots in a row when he's on the other side of the room, or someone run around a corner & know exactly where the enemy is on the other end of a street etc...then u get suspicious to say the least!!
honestly, i've found it to be getting worse...ya maybe getting more kills, but since it's school holidays now, there's more and more immature twirps using (quite easy to find) cheats/hacks and doing team-kills etc.

are you sure about the dying part? xyz's aimbot is new, and the chazz aimhack is still around. There are still hacks that work for 1.1. I even checked one of the hacker forum on ezboard, and they'll still going to make the hacks, they'll hellbent on destroying CS. Punkbuster cannot circumvent these hacks with some tinkering/swapping wih the opengl file.

High scores. I got accused of that sometimes. OH well, that's how the games are: bitches and bitchin.
