Cost of war

Hey Americans, look what your wonderful government could have done witht he money that was spent on the war!

www.costofwar.com

P.S Izzy, where are the weapons of mass destruction you thought Powell proved to be manufactured in his presentation?

Looked pretty scientific.

think of all the classes bush could take with this money! he couldve finally learned the alphabet!

Posted by Arbiter on Jul-19-2003 23:27:

That's chump change compared to what they've spent on a far more ridiculous war - the war on drugs, but I digress...

In any case one can be reasonably sure that even if we didn't spend all that money on the war in Iraq, we wouldn't have spent it wisely anyway. Best that our government doesn't take it away from us in the first place to fund its inane project-o-the-moment.

Posted by DR86 on Jul-20-2003 04:32:

I'm sure that Bush would have galdly used that money for some other pointless war...

If any weapons of mass destruction are found Id be willing to speculate they were a plant anyway.

By the bye, cool link.

Gulf War (1990-1991) 61.00 / 61.1 / 235.00

Sorry for the bad formatting. In per capita costs, it's not all that different from previous wars in the past. We'll see how much the total cost is following the end of conflict however.

I'm glad the US had the balls to remove a terrorist such as saddam.

Although WMD's have not been found and i doubt if they ever will be, i promise you will get more then enough evidence, showing the Iraq did have a WMD program that would equipt the country with the weapons nessacry when desired, when the US finishes up its investigations/interagations.

Posted by malek on Jul-22-2003 04:23:

yes but then again, that knowledge (building wmd) is not so hard to get nowadays. basically any country can starts its own wmd program. is this a reason to hold an entire population hostage and declare wars here and there? After all, all the iraqi regime wanted to do is to balance the power in the region with israel having an array of wmd loaded and ready for launch 24/7.

Now Izzy, that's the wrong way to approach the world. Who cares whether a dictator oppresses and murders his own people in N. Korea, Iraq, Serbia, etc.? We must set an example such as Africa and ignore the situation unless it directly effects our well-being or occurrs somewhere relatively close to the western civilized world.

Bush should have not lied and simply told the truth from the get go and explained that he wanted to rid the region of an instable, hostile, brutal dictator. One must look at the current situation pragmatically.

i agree, however no one really knew whether or not saddam actually had the weapons or not. According to his intellegence Bush belived saddam did posses them... it turns out he was wrong... however that does not make him a lier.

Wow. I wish I had seen this before!

Bush rallied, or exagerated intelligence information for a war.. blah.. w/e. Today we see how he's getting deeper into that poop hole.
