PVD @ Blue in Dallas

Saw this show coming up on 8/29 and am looking forward to seeing him. Anyone been to Blue yet? Their site kind of sucks and the only real information on it is how to become a "vip" member for $500-$1000.

I wanna go, but only if the club is legit. I mean, if its some rinky dink, tiny ass club, it won't be worth it. Too many people makes for a shitty time. Thats fuckin' crazy about the 500-1000 dollar VIP tix, no one is worth that much. What is the club's website, I've been looking for it. Also where can I buy tix, cause I know ticketmaster doesn't sell them.

peace.

Steve

EDIT: Here is a review I just read from www.digitalcity.com/dallas

In a loving tribute to Dallas' on-again, off-again oil-boom exuberance, Blue is the product of an interior decorator's flair, an SUV's roominess and several million dollars in capital. The monstrously luxurious facility houses such must-have amenities as a 3,000 square foot dance floor, more than a dozen separate bar stations, its own in-house restaurant and, of course, a VIP lounge. The drink menu is a pretty by-the-numbers affair, though you'll find a couple of surprises; aside from the dozens of complicated compilations you'd expect to find in any lounge-type setting, you'll also be privy to such resident specialties as the Long Island Blue Tea, the Blue Sky and the Island Blue -- guess the common gimmick and you get a prize (the trick answer: they're all made with liberal splashings of curacao). The clientele is generally as pretty as the all-out elegance to be found among the decor, and a stringent dress code helps to ensure that the guests match the drapes.

I really want to see PVD, but so far the idea of going to this blue club doesn't seem worth it. I haven't found anything about tickets yet, but a dress code enforced club it seems. I don't want to dance all night with trendy "I think its techno" dips.

Wonder if no shorts means slacks and no jeans?

Posted by kris1351 on Jul-28-2003 23:56:

Don't bother emailing, the staff won't give any information. Kind of what I figured. Supposedly there will be more info on their site soon.

presales???

Has anyone figured out where to buy presales yet?

Posted by juice72 on Aug-05-2003 18:41:

You can wear jeans in blue. They just can't have holes, etc. They must be presentable. I wore my Mavi's in there Saturday night and had no problems. i also wore my ClimaCool Trainers and had no hassle, but it could have been because I recieved a special invite from one of the owners of the club. It is a nice club. I think they devoted to much space to the VIP area and not enough to the dance floor, but hey....That's Dallas for you!!!

Posted by kris1351 on Aug-06-2003 04:05:

There site actually lists the event now, but no info on presales.

Posted by technojunkie on Aug-06-2003 16:25:

OK...I guess they're just not on sale yet.

Arrow

There's been a lot of Hype surrounding this club, and it's supposed to be really awesome. I can't wait to see what it's all about myself. I'm glad to see PVD frequent the Dallas area more than he has in the past. His last showing at Meltdown a year ago was awesome!!! I've been waiting to buy tickets for weeks now.

Presale tickets available now at:

Blue
Core Records
Bills
Illmatic Records
ATPT (not sure where that is)

Posted by th0mmy on Aug-14-2003 15:07:

there's a dresscode but you can wear sneakers *heh*

Any normal self-respecting club prohibits sneakers :P

It's like, normal. (atleast in Holland it is)

Blue is so much of a smaller venue when compared to last yr's venue for MD4... ...sux that they probably won't let you in wearing just a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers...i been there a couple of times and the crowd there is pretty decked out, all dressy...

Posted by kris1351 on Aug-19-2003 06:19:

Ticket prices are now $25 presale and $35 day of according to the email they sent out. Oh, never send them any questions if you don't want on their email list. Another idiot running a mailing list like the RedJacket one. Never sign up, but we will spam ya.

Posted by Anghang on Aug-19-2003 16:46:

$35!!!...DAYUM!...so basically now you gotta dish out mad loot AND be forced to follow a dress code...DOH!....

I think I understood what you said. I have heard mixed reviews about the venue, mostly bad from those that actually dance and enjoy good music. From the uppities that enjoy stuffy "techno" clubs they like it. Expensive covers and expensive drinks. As much as I want to go see PVD we have all opted out of going. D:Fuse is coming next month so we will get to see a good show soon.

Posted by Anghang on Aug-21-2003 04:37:

i totally forgot about the expensive drinks there...$10 for a greygoose and redbull...and i think $12 for an long island, maybe more, not sure cuz i charged it all....

no i was wantin 2 kno if da venue n central park ny where hes playin on da 28th of august is going 2 b ne good.it wasnt prices of drinks, unless ur talkin bout bottled water, i was talkin bout jack & jills=pills(mitsies/mitsubishi's)can get tony no problem but would like a more eurphoric buzz wink..wink...ones dat will make me look like this after 2

Posted by kris1351 on Aug-25-2003 21:51:

LOL, maybe you have already had enough brain endulging chemicals. This is about the Dallas show, not NY.

Posted by FalconRed on Aug-29-2003 16:02:

I'm looking forward to hitting Blue to see PVD tonight. The club has completely sold out on the presale tickets. I'm glad to see PVD hit a club that is more upscale. It's a pretty fancy joint for Dallas. The drink prices are pretty steep, but you can tell they droped some money on the light and sound system. (at least several million). The sound quality is excellent. I'm sure they are going to put their projection system to good use as well. This venue may be small, but unlike Meltdown you can at least have a DRINK if you have the cash. That really pissed me off last year. You also don't have hordes of Police officers eyeballing you and searching you as you go into the building. Blue by far is going to be more enjoyable. I hope that at least some of the readers of this site will be able to go and enjoy the show =)

Posted by DaveT on Aug-29-2003 22:41:

Probably with upscale clubs - crowds typically don't know shit about the music or care who the DJ is. At least the ones around here. People just go to them to feel hip.

Anyhow, Jerry Bonham is opening for him in Dallas....should be a kickass night overall. Jerry is a great DJ.

This has to be the most unintelligent post I've ever read on any message board ever. Maybe you should lay off the substances and hit yourself in the head until you beat what little brains you have left out of your head.

How was the show? Did they give him a good setup or was it a yuppy hell as expected?
