Well........ Thinking of getting the st-90 but i wish to sratch.Before people start saying the st-90 is shit,Let me remind you that its alot better than the str8-80 that is the most popular.Heres the features.High torque direct drive motor (2.2 Kgf-cm)
Aluminum face-plate(Not shitty Plastic like the 8-80's)
Height adjustable S-shaped tone arm
Manual pitch bend [up to 6%] * � Reverse function *
3 speeds [33,45,78] *
Quartz Lock
Selectable pitch control [+/-8%, +/-16%, +/-25%] *

Also does anyone know anything about the poles.The st-90 has 16 pole but the st-100 and str8-80 has only 8 pole.Whats the difference?

The Plastic look.1.6kg torque

Compared to the Aluminum.2.2kg torque

So the questions are

1.Is it possable to scratch using a curved tone-arm?

generally stupid questions don't get answers. - in reference to the 1st one.
If you've even seen one video with a dj scratching you'd know the answer is yes.
I mean... how else would they have done it since the vestax str8 arm table first released only a few years ago?
Still, Technics tables WITH curved tone arms are widely used by turntablists. Just that str8 arms generally are better for scratching. There's a thread about all the differences of str8 and s-shaped tone arms.

The ST-90 is supposed to be the same as a ST-100 without the digital bits, i.e. its an analog version, which makes it basicly the same as a 1200.

You CAN scratch with a curved arm, but professionally the straight arm is considered to be better fot the job

Yeah it looks like a good tt.The only problem is thats its a curved arm but as you say this will not affect my scratching.Would you go for the str8-80 over the st-90 just because of the straight arm? st-90 is a little more expensise than the str8-80 where i'm buying from too

I'd go with the 90, it's a bit better.
You'll still be able to scratch with it if you want.
Remember that in DMC competitions (which is Technics sponsored) turntablists use Technics turntables for their scratching and cutting etc... They do it arguably the best.
Technics TTs used curved arms, they'll work for scratching, just like a st90 should.
Just hear the platter's on those TTs are a little sensitive, may make it difficult if you're heavy-handed.

If you had �250....would you go for tt-200 at �190 and get some records or �250 on st-90.I've heard good things about the tt-200 but not great.....is the tt-200 a good table for scratching...i mean has it got enough power

Yet all my 2001 n 2002 DMC and ITF comp videos all have S-shaped?

I own the same tables....... I think they work great but I could use a litter more torque

Don't know the answer to the "pole" thing

They only cost me $200 USD a piece.........can't believe it's �250 for you in UK

^^^ yea and i think that there made in the uk as well, tecs are also more exspensive in the uk, you can almost take the price in pounds on dj equipment and trade the Punds singn for a $ and it will be about the rite price.... id think it would be the other way around considering that most djs come from europe
