Thumbs down goddamn insurers!

I've just got a letter thru from my mobile phone insurers saying they won't pay out on my claim for my mobile phone because i din't take "reasonable steps to minimise the Underwriters liabilty"

I'd just finished making a call with it last monday and just put it down on the table next to my arm dammit! Now i will have to buy my friends phone off of him.

That's why you always lie and tell them a story which shows you couldn't of prevented it happening, and that goes for all types of insurers, they're bastards and will do anything to repudiate any claim.

Wankers.

ok i now have a little problem

As u know my phone was nicked and the insurance company wouldn't give me a new phone.

I have found out through the bill i got today that the people who nicked my phone made 200 worth of calls on my number.

In my policy, i am insured against calls used on my number when stolen. However, i have no idea how they managed to do this since i called up T mobile which blocked my Sim AND phone!

Therefore, although i was unable to minimalise the insurance underwriters losses due to my phone being stolen, i DID inform T-mobile to cancel my sim, from a police station phone. I believe that this was a reasonable step to minimise their losses, and thus i shouldn't have to pay the 200+ pounds of calls. Is this possibly T-monile's fault?

I would think that the claim layout of the insurance company would follow certain paths. For example, if u had unknowingly lost my phone and calls were made on it, i would still be eligable for a claim as i was unaware of the loss til x:xx time.

If they do not pay out do u think i have reasonable cause to take this dispute to the finacial ombudsman??!?

i think i will be fine and T-Mobile will have to pay

I've now seen the bill and these calls were somehow made after the SIM was cancelled. I know T-Mobile record all calls regarden thefts and what not so i don't think i'm liable. I also have proof of when i made the cancellation call in a police station

the stress is nearly over!

if you rang from a police station you will have a witness in the form of a police officer most likley.

itimized bill shows calls made after you reported the sim stolen and requested it be blocked

as you said calls recorded at t mobile to

t-mobile are liable for the calls, and if they even think of charging you for them take them to court as they aint got a leg to stand on.
