-- What to do in D.C.?

Question What to do in D.C.?

Since John and I are coming down for "OO" Fleming, we were also wondering what to do regarding the nerdy touristy stuff.
Where to go? Any attractions not to miss? We'd appreciate the info.

My "tranceaddict account" doesn't work right, John.

touristy things: Smithsonian, Washington Monument, Air & Space Museum (Imax Theater), Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art, Lincoln Memorial, Georgetown, Whitehouse Tour.

Lots of touristy things to do there, just pick the ones you want.

Posted by trancEyes22 on Jul-30-2003 16:56:

yeah ian listed some good ones...aaron and i went to the natural history museum a few weeks ago, and they have some newly added exhibits from what i could remember. thats where they have the hope diamond (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!), the IMAX about dinosaurs (dont see the T-rex movie, it was awful), and info about different cultures around the world.

the musuem of american history (also the smithsonian) is a good one too. here they have info regarding all the presidents, including a handful of first ladys inauguaral gowns....haha, i like all the girly stuff.

the Holocaust museum is so amazing too....but it is very depressing. its something i think everyone should see, and its real close to the other musuems, so if ya stand the tears check it out.

georgetown i just went to last night and had a blast. check out me n yu....its this moroccan/arabic/mediterranean resturant where you sit on these awesome comfy pillows and relax. plus g-town has awesome shopping (i'm so broke tho )

DC has a ton of stuff you can do! just park near the monument and find your way around, pretty much all the museums and touristy things are right around there. have fun!!!

your avatar looks possessed.

You should check out the FBI building as well (if they're still doing tours) it was really fun!

You aren't getting there early enough for the white house tour so I would scratch that off your list. And the holocaust museum requires you to reserve tickets and it takes something like 4 or 5 hours to make it through the entire museum. So unless you plan to devote an entire day (starting early in the morning) I would stick to the smithsonian area. You have your choice of air and space, natural history, art museum, etc., you won't be bored. THen once hte museums close (5 or 6pm I think) you can start visiting the monuments and memorials which are nearby. Then as night time approaches you can head out to Georgetown for shopping or drinks.

there is SO much stuff to do in dc! as i was flying over it picking out places i knew (glow included ) i realized how much i love this damn city. anyway, the museums ian listed are great. my favorites are the air and space museum and the smithsonian (aka the museum of natural history). i also love the art galleries in the area. the phillips is off of dupont circle, just about every other museum is in the constitution ave area.

no one seems to mention adams morgan for night life, but that's my favorite area. much better than georgetown in my opinion. if you want to get nature-y, go to great falls. if you want supreme tourism, come out to annapolis.

any other questions, pm me. i love telling people about dc!

Don't miss out on The Reef! IMO, The Reef is the best bar in Adams Morgan!

if you like to socialize @ night i suggest any of the following:

Georgetown, arlington, old town alexandria.
