hi all, I'm wandering what pickup is on turntables, could someone please tell me.. thnks

I have not heard that term used however I can venture a guess. I am thinking they are refering to it start time which is dictated by its torque. So good direct drive decks have high torque and will "pickup" quickly. Meaning they get up to full speed very quickly after pressing start.
