Favourite tracks of 1995...

For me, 1995 was the year that the sound of British "Trance" was just starting to take off into the sound more commonly associated with 1995, as opposed to the more acidy sounding years of 1993/1994. Back then, the line between trance and progressive house was very thin, and many tracks that most people would recognise as "Trance" of today were classed as "progressive house" then, or sometimes as "Epic House".

Anyway, here goes mine:

Sunday Club - Paladian Dawn
Beat Foundation - Foundations (Original) - doesn't come close to the masterful 97 rework, "Foundations II" but still a highly innovative, beautiful and original production at the time.
Marco Polo - A Prayer To The Music (John Digweed's Northern Exposure Mix)
Sandman - Coimbra
Pet Shop Boys - Paninaro 95 (Tin Tin Out Remix)
Blue Amazon - Four Seasons
Atlas - Beauty
Kimball & Dekkard - Hardlife (Fade Remix)
Grace - Not Over Yet
Grace - Skin On Skin
Dubster - Stars (Way Out West Remix)
Amos - Church Of Freedom (Quivver Dub)
Union Jack - Red Herring
X Cabs - Adena
Chris & James - Fox Force Five (Big C's Break Of Dawn Mix)
Art Of Trance - Octupus
BT - Embracing The Sunshine
BT - Tripping The Light Fantastic
Sian - Dreams
Cygnus X - The Orange Theme (Red Jerry's Prolecult Mix)
Coyote - Hidden Clouds

Wow, I didn't even realize that Anomaly was that far back. I thought it was 1996. In that case Calling Your Name and Earoica take the cake. I think Anomaly still sounds better than most everything out there right now. It's a masterpiece.

I didn't know Lost In Love was that far back either. Fantastic as well.

I always thought Higher State Of Consciousness got way too much attention. And I never really liked Be As One; one of Sasha's production lows in my opinion.

Haven't heard of most others there. Thanks for the references everyone!

Yes, Anomaly was originally released in '95 with Earoica, first set of remixes came in '96 and more almost every year.. Lost In Love was released in '95 as well with Baby Doc, Sysex Style, Spinclub, Meteor 7 & Space Club Mixes.

Strike - U Sure Do

also - what year was Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie et Le Soleil ?

Posted by GrimReaper on Aug-02-2003 19:29:

Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie Le Soleil is from '94 and got more mixes in '96. And actually some early releases of Orange Theme came out already in '93 but the official release was still in '94.

LSD! It came out towards the end of '95 though, so it was played more in '96.

I had a chance to buy it when the 96 remixes came out, it was commerically rls here, but stupid me didn't bother, and like with so many tunes, regret it now, i think i appreciate them more now too, just how advanced some were

actually, nkotb fell off after 93.. u were probably rocking to TLC - Creep

Regarding Sasha - Be As One, Dekkard apparently produced that with him and if you listen to Dekkard's own productions of the time period, his part in production of it is pretty obvious. Dekkard is who I regard as one of the most underrated producers of all time, anyone else heard of/remember him?

Regarding our ages in 95, I became 14 on July 11th 1995.

Posted by torontotrance on Aug-03-2003 03:21:

thinks he is older by less than 2 months over aloep

Posted by GrimReaper on Aug-03-2003 09:30:

I remember Dekkard but haven't heard that much of his stuff really. Some remixes and a few productions.

And i became 17 in 1995.
