Thumbs down Israel imposes 'racist' marriage law

http://news.independent.co.uk/world...sp?story=429490

Does this not remind anyone of 1930s Germany and the Nuremberg laws imposed against Jews?

lol!!
i dont think that there"s any palastinian-israeli couples
i mean there was a couple but the palastinian killed his israeli wife and now he is in jail and another couple that met each other on the internet turned out as a kidnapping of the israeli boy by the palastinians

so i dont think any1 should worry about that kind of stuff

just waited for this topic to be raised here

yet another excuse for haters to compare Jews with Nazis, yet another miserable attempt at commenting on the mid-east situation while not really having a clue on what it's all about.
Fact is: Many, if not alomst all of the 100.000 Palestinians used marriage in order to "return" to Israel. Similiar to people who'll marry a random American citizen in order to get the Green Card. After all, how exactely are so many Pal. supposed to fall in love with Israeli Arabs living on the other side? Of course Israel cannot tolerate a development which only accelrates the growth of the Arab population within their boundaries. Soon its gonna be 50/50 and I'd like to see you, evil_basdtard, when Turkish immigrants will make up half of England's population, with more and more Turks coming to marry people "they love".
Dont be so naive.

Doesnt make it right.

That was addressed in the article:

quote:
Since 1993, more than 100,000 Palestinians have become Israeli citizens through marriage, Mr Ezra said. But B'Tselem pointed out that only 20 of those 100,000 have been involved in suicide bombings or other militant attacks. Human rights groups said security concerns could not justify the new law, which amounts to collective punishment. Noam Hoffstater, another spokesman for B'Tselem, said: "Those who voted for the bill and those who support it are making a very cynical use of security arguments to justify it, even though they used no data. This in fact was a cover for the real reason, which is the racist reason, the demographic reason."

Not that these figures matter of course, because the law is racist.

You're excusing blatant racism. Clearly we have a fundamental difference in opinion here which I don't think can be resolved with debate. I'm not one of these ultra-politically sensitive types who thinks the Union Jack should include the colour black, but I can't condone blatant racism such as this.

As regards the situation in Britain, you talk as if there's no middle ground, no room for compromise. You imply that we either let Turks flood in or we ban them altogether.

Yo cyrus and evil_b. You know what? I totally agree, objectively analyzed this is what you'd call *racist* because it judges and treats an entire population on the basis of negative assumptions. I still defend it. Why? Because I don't trust and rely on anybody. Jews have had some ahemmm not so nice thousands of years and learnt their lessons. Leanrt that sometimes it's not all about compromise and trust but about surviving the others and stick together. Luckily today Jews have their secured homeland, a safety net for Jews who might be persecuted all over the world. Maintaining it is sometimes a dirty job, sometimes it doesn't go hand in hand with Human Rights or Democratic principles, that's the bitter truth, that's is the sad conclusion drawn after realizing that the world is not a perfect place, after seeing that Darwin was not so wrong after all.

Notice that Britain has existed and will exist for thousands of years, Israel has to literally fight for its existance on a daily basis (not always on obvious visible levels), has to justifiy itseld again and again. You simply cannot judge as some1 who's not fully into the mantality.

So you admit you ae a racist then? And they are maintaning their nation in the same "ahemm... not so nice" manner in which they were treated themselves.. by persecuting the PAlestinians... even though we live in the new millenium and dont follow rules that were executed to keep order thousands of years ago.

I defend actions which i'd be ready to call racist.

this is a lie.

I find the fact that the Israeli Parliament can so shamelessly pass an extremely controversial law quite worrying. It begs the question: what next? And how much more can they continue to justify with "security concerns"?

Trancegiant, if you consider this racism justified, then what will it take before you say 'enough'? If making laws targetted at a specific race is acceptable to you, then how far can Israel go before they've crossed the line in your opinion?

I find the vague suggestion that "sacrifices have to made" an insufficient justification for such an unjust law.

I'm exaggerating...a little.

That giant wall doesn't help...

It's silly to equate this with Nazi Germany since the premise for the establishment of the Nuremburg laws of racial purity was completely different than the premise for this law. However, the law is still racist in as much as having the police practice racial profiling is racist.

Hitler did use "security concerns" to justify some of his actions, for example "liberating" Germans living in Austria or the Sudetenland. He also singled out a particular race of people for the problems in his country, and collective punished them. I accept that it was an exaggeration to compare the two, but I am concerned that this may only be the beginning. If the Israeli Parliament can enforce such racism without hassle, then they may not hesitate to be more controversial in the future and the severity of this could escalate. This might not be the harshest law in the world but it could be the start of worse things to come. The severity of this law might not be outrageous but the nature of it is, and it's symbolic of the Israeli govt's attitude towards the crisis.
