The "Solar Stone" sound

I've been trying for ages to re-create that sound as featured in pretty much all of Solar Stone's tracks - rite back to things like "From Russia With Love"!!!

Anyway - this is what I came up with - what do you guys think, sounds like or sounds shite?

The strings aren't up to much however - I wasn't aiming for that sound.
