Question Does anybody know any good trance vinyl shops in San Francisco?

Is there anyone that can help me out? I'm going to San Francisco for a week and I've got some money to spend..

I went to SF a while ago, looked around for a good record store, but had no luck.

The trance stock isnt amazing here in SF. Trance is only huge in the rave scene, and most of the DJs on this board probably have more knowledge about trance than most of the SF trance DJs do. Though, Id recommend going to Skills in Berkeley, F-8 on Haight Street in San Francisco, and Solid Grooves in San Jose.

Alright. Thanks for the info. I'll just save my money and hit up some shops in LA on the way back then

check on haight street. there's a ton of record shops there. F-8 is a decent one for trance, although it's a really small shop. spundae records is pretty good, but they cater to more progressive.

sup bay area TAs

i was amazed at how small F8 was, it's just like a hallway that's 12 ft wide, interesting store

Hit up DMC records on Melrose, Beat Non Stop on Melrose, GroovRiders on Ventura just west of Van Nuys Bl, Green Sector on Ventura Bl just east of Corbin st, just a few that I know here in LA area. I don't frequent them anymore, I shop online 'cause it's cheaper and so much more and better as far as selection goes and all the newest releases available the same day they are released.

Eric(Mystre) is still a co-owner of Frequency 8 and anything that goes along with it, ie. the F-8 stores/studio/website/etc... Eric does concentrate more on the Dancing Spirit Label becuase it is still fairly new project with him and Jason(Dyloot). Occasionally you'll still catch Michael(Mars) and Eric performing together just like back in the 1990's. As a matter of fact, Mars&Mystre or M&M(hahahahaha) are performing a together at our Club RED @ LAEC on August 15th(in less than two weeks)on a special 2 X 4 night in the main room. They also performed a 2 X 4 set last time they played at our club, back in March 2003.

You should check out Mars if you get a chance, Michael has gotten shitload of new music and it is quite a bit harder, more melodic, and heavier basslines. Cheers...

"Love The Music, Not the Drugs" -- Mars & Mystre(Frequency 8)

a tiny correction, Frequency 8 is owned by Mars and Mystre and Mars's motto is

"Keep The Faith" Mars

"Love the Music, Not the Drugs" -- Mars & Mystre(Frequency 8)

Cheers!

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!

ONLY go to Amoeba IF you know EXACTLY what ARTIST and TRACK name you are looking for. If you are just browsing around for music, STAY AWAY from Amoeba, they don't have any turntables to listen/preview records, therefore unless you know EXACTLY what you're looking for, you are shopping blindly sorta speaking.

Cheers...

Woah... Allen_k from Fillmore? Crazy... anyway just try the online stores man... I personally get my stuff from Chemical Records (UK)... I know its outside the US, but they are pretty good... I am sure others may disagree, but they have reasonable shipping prices and ship very quickly.

Here is the link for Chemical Records:

Hope that helps man
