-- African DJs?

Monkey Dancer 2 African DJs?

Hmm

Is there any African DJ's / Producers that anyone knows of?

And of course, not African-American(or whatever)... Then the obvious, Carl Cox, doesn't count here

i don't think 1% of african people has heard of electronic music.

Posted by joeh on Aug-05-2003 13:02:

Roger Goode is South African I believe.

Carl Cox isn't african american, as he is from the UK.

My point exactly, that's why I'm asking...

Roger Goode is indeed South African. Plays some whicked funk!. BTW how do you know about him? Though he just played locally.

We have a couple of other DJ's in SA who bring out CD's every now and again, but it's mostly House and VERY commercial! Not really a way to bring trance to this side of the world, all tucked away down here at the bottom.

But luckily I have "the hub" and you nice ppl to keep me at the front of what's happening in the dance (Trance) seen. Knowledge is power !!

(Hope AvB would come to SA some time, PvD coming in October and Tiesto was here in March )

I can almost assure you that there is not allot going in in other africa countries, they don't even have electricity.

Maybe Egypt might have something going, but not nearly as much as Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Because of the track Roger Goode - In the Beginning, the Ferry Corsten mix is quite good actually

Also, I believe Aly & Fila were supposed to be from Egypt.

Hey PH

Got a bit of bad news. Spoke to the promoter of the PvD party, and Paul is on hold for a while. The new date in the 5th December, the 6th for you up in PTA/JHB area. I should be going to both events. He also mentioned that Sasha might be coming back between now and the end of the year. Will keep you posted.

Cheers... boet
Rory

Erg

O well, better late than never.

I actually really wanna see the man of the moment - AvB.

Send an email to his production team (DAVID LEWIS PRODUCTIONS) and they send me a whole list of what he would need to come to SA. (I asked them if he would think about coming)

So if I want him to come I need to get hold of two plane tickets (Business class ), hotel rooms, Promotional activities and a bunch of cash to pay him .......

Was thinking about asking ESP productions (they got Tiesto) to get into contact with them and get the ball rolling.

If you coming to Pta for Pvd then maybe we can meet and have a drink or two.

- PH

I'd love to go to SA. one of my good friends has a good friend from SA (I dont remember what city) who he went to music school with in Michigan.

how is the scene down there?

The SA scene has died a terrible death, was so good back in 99

I'm luccky I moved to the UK when I did, didnt have to watch it fianl hours.

Cant speak for all of SA tho, but Cape Town has gone to utter shyte.

It's all about Hard House, or real cheesy trance.

Signum where down a while back, and pull a corwd of, gasp, 300ish ppl.

Dj sammy, however, pulled 3000ish

Erg, you said it.

Money has corrupted all the DJ's into bringing out very cheesy CD's, thus making everything just more commercial. Many of my friends don't like electronic music because the only stuff they hear is Hard House and Techno. Then when I play them some Darren Tate or Airwave they ask me why there isn't more of that kind of music playing.

Tiesto pulled about 5000 I would think in March, but most of the ppl didn't even know what to do cause they were so used to House. He finished off with "Flesh" and everybody was just standing there - except for me who was just losing myself.

But I think it is making a turn around since local DJ's don't pull that many ppl anymore cause they are sick off the same old crap every weekend. SA is just waiting for someone to show them the way. Maybe I should rise to the occasion.

But our women are very fine though ..... (They make it worth visiting)

this is definately one of the greatest mix cds I have ever heard in my life!
