Why do TAs hate glowsticks?

I was just reading the house party thread and noticed this...
I was just wondering why?
Is it because people are waving them in YOUR face? if so, then isnt it that person's fault?
I personally like them...but whatever
Just wondering about your personal reasons for hating them!

Even though you (unfortunately) aren't the one with glowsticks in it, I think you should post that old school raver pic you showed me a while back, hehe...

ok so then ppl dont like it when tripped out people are getting liteshows in the middle of the floor

some of the TA's that are a bit older tend to dislike them b/c they equate them w/ teh under 19 sect. i persoanlly find them aq bit lame..but i don't hate them

I've never used glow sticks nor have I ever recieved a light show....but then again, I'm fairly new to all this (4 years)

im not the best glowsticker...but i love them..love receiving shows and love giving them..i DONT flash them in peoples faces and try not to bring them out unless i got space to use them....or i go up on stage or something...it really is hell of alot of fun to learn to use...and coordinate with the music

its an awesome feeling when someone asks for a show and cant get up after you give it to them..tho ive only done that like once or twice...

By the light show guy do you mean the big asian guy at guv? cuz i know loconet mentioned one guy at guv who was particularly good with glowsticks... unfortunately i've never had the pleasure of seeing him

i once went to a really lame party in montreal ( i think it was one of the 'Cream' parties ) where they confiscated glowsticks at the door ( they also confiscated chewing gum, but that made sense since the venue was an indoor tennis complex ).

so i figured there was some ridiculous anti-rave law that treated glow sticks as "drug paraphrenalia" and the promoters were just being careful...

but no, it was because they were selling glowsticks INSIDE and didn't anyone ruining their monopoly.

laaaaame.

oh, and in general i'm indifferent to glowsticks, bicycle lights and other visual accesories. i used to think they were irritating candy raver affectations but then i realized i was just being an elitist scenester snob, which is the lamest thing of all.

Glowsticks seem like more of a trance thing. I hardly see glowsticks at techno parties or a prog night at system for example. Go to a big trance party at viva or guv and you'll see glowsticks abound. I personally like them, they're fun, it's all about respect for the glowsticker and his space and the glowsticker must respect those that don't want it in their face.
