advice on selling a car

i HAVE to sell my car within the next month b/c i am moving and i will not be needing a car anymore. does anyone have any advice for selling a car that gets good results? i have never sold a car before, so i have no clue.
some quick stats on the car- 1.8T VW GTI. all options. 31,000 miles on it. so it is not a piece of junk.

any help would be appreciated.

Internet: secondhand car site
Dealer: let your dealer sell it
New car: trade your old car in
Home: put a for sale note behind the window
Friends + collegues: spread the word, ask if someone needs a car

does selling it on the internet work, has anyone had luck with it? i cant trade it in b/c i dont need another car.
can i just go to a dealer and say 'here i want to sell this to you?'. that is myy worse case scenario b/c i know they will rob me.

did the note and the speading the word thing.

i was wondering if there was a quick way (that has worked for anyone on this board) to sell it as i am super impatient!
