sven vath question
i just d/led sven vath - l'esperanaza (original album mix) and it made me speechless. i cant believe this was produced in 1993. so fuckin amazing. i know that he spins techno now but what r his best trance songs from the old sk00l era.
Sven Vath- Accident in paradise
it's also old, but its what you're looking for IMO.
Yes, Accident In Paradise (the album, 1993) is great, IMO Sven's best album. But anyway, here are a few selected tunes from early/mid 90s.
Sven Vth - Ballet-Fusion
Sven Vth - Barbarella (Andry Nalin Remix)
Sven Vth - Barbarella (Deep Dish Armageddon Breakdown Remix)
Sven Vth - Barbarella (Dubstar Club Edit)
Sven Vth - Caravan Of Emotions
Sven Vth - L'Esperanza (The Visions Of Shiva 'Hope Will Move Mountains' Mix) *
Sven Vth - My Name Is Barbarella
Sven Vth - Ritual Of Life
Zyon - No Fate (Struggle Continious Mix) **
* Visions Of Shiva = Paul van Dyk & Harald "Cosmic Baby" Bluechel
** Produced by Matthias "A.C.Boutsen/Brainchild/Cygnus X" Hoffmann, Steffen "Stevie B-Zet" Britzke & Ralf Hildenbeutel. Additional production by Sven Vth.

Barbarella Barbarella Barbarella !!!
hey grimreaper, that zyon tune is absolutely mind blowing. especially the no fate '93 mix. how the f did they produce that like that back then. it a masterpiece. do u know any more similar to that tune. thx again
The "Accident in Paradise" album is mostly new age sounding. It's okay, I suppose, but I prefer the Barbarella "the Art of Dance" album (more like a compilation, really) which came out around the same time. "Accident" is more organic sounding whereas Barbarella was more electronic. Anyways, "Accident" was released on CD in Canada so it's not that difficult to find. Barbarella, on the other hand ...
If you like that ambient style, check out the stuff on the Recycle or Die label, especially the works of Ralf Hildenbeutel (Sven's earlier work wouldn't have been the same without Ralf collaborating on them), Stevie Bezet, and Oliver Lieb.
And for those who were too young back in the early 90s ... my sympathies. You missed out on a lot of really cool *innovative* stuff.
Keep your eyes open for those old Sven Vaeth Clubnight sets from 1992-1994. They're cult.
Sven Vth is the MAN! I think he's way underrated...but maybe it's because this is a trance-forum that no one ever speaks about him? I love him...I hope he comes to Sweden again sometime soooooon...
Isn't he by the way the pioneer of all eurpean electronic dance music? Isnt's he the one we should be greatful to for having our great electronic music culture here in Europe??
sven vath is not underrated in the techno community.
his best production was strahelmann und somme (genie remix) or si futures - eurostar(sven vath remix.
he is one of the most respected djs in the world, he runs his own club night in ibiza called cocoon at amnesia and has released countless tracks and compilations - the sound of the second season - (cd two) being my favourite.
i think hes going thru a rough patch at the moment cos ive heard a few bad reviews of him but he has still achieved so much in his career.
kinda reminds me of a german laurent garnier.

vth = most controversial figure in techno scene.
some absolutely adore and worship him, other detest him. Some sets can be out of this world, other can suck ballz.
personally I saw him once (5 hour set) and wasnt that impressed. but i do like "his" (he didnt really produce it) accident in paradise album
down load his innercity 2000 set.
its the best set i've heard bar picottos set at inside out in june this year.

Check out Frankfurt's techno history for more on this topic. It seems he was kind of an arrogant bastard from what I understand. If he didn't like you/your sound, you weren't going to have success in FFM.

Yeah, you hit it on the head. Kind of ironic considering he was a "king of trance" back in the early days.

What you need are early Clubnights! : ). He won't blow you away with his mixing or his commentary but he played some great tracks.
I saw him twice in Vancouver ... I think in 94 and 96. First time was good; second time, he was steering towards techno and away from trance, and I didn't enjoy it as much.
