Working in a games shop? *ponders*

So theres jobs goin at this games place. But I'm afraid. If I get a job there will I become a geek and have no life and transform into a greebo? And secondly, will there be geek greebos with no lives getting jobs there?

The job I have now at some dodgy fast food pizza place (thats not Pizza Hut) only gets me 4 hours a week, working out at about 18 a week. So I'm really desperate to get a new job.

Is it worth it?

It's a tough one...But I say go for it. You can be the elite, cool-as-fuck DJ superstar that your geeky co-workers look up to

Posted by AndskiSpeed on Aug-12-2003 00:53:

Aye. And then theres the money, and the women

Posted by goose_wh on Aug-12-2003 08:56:

go for the games shop... youd be the odd one out for all the right reasons.
+ itll be good to sneer at the gimps & goits on your off days and think how much better you are than 'em.
although i probably wouldnt tell to many girls i worked in a games shop > maximum gimpage.

Go werk in the games shop. Get extremely good at CounterStrike and Quake3. Enter international competitions and win them. Get paid loads of cash and travel all around the world and impress ladies with your trigger finger.

Or work in a pizza hut...

Working in pizza place: 'I work in a pizza place....you wanna sleep with me then?'

Working in game shop: 'I play a vital role in todays electronic interactive industry....you wanna sleep with me then?'

I used to work in an airconditioned design studio on the third floor overlooking Liverpool St Station with twins on reception. Five thirty in the afternoon was such a pleasant time of day in the summer.

The internet boom rocked.

I spent my entire school and college life working in a small independent Jap/US import game shop (and failing school and college ) and I couldnt have been happier although it was very, very expensive. My japanese Dreamcast cost me 700 (not inc games, extra pad, memory units and a big new tv to play it all on), although I did manage to get one the day before Japanese launch .

This also happened as I was in the top Quake 3 clan in the Uk although I did it all for fun and not really seriously. I was just (and still am ) fooking good.

This, unfortunatly never happened, although my girlfriend has never once complained at the extreme agileness of my fingers

Then I discovered clubbing, class a drugs and casual sex and hence the geek days ended.

Posted by magnasoma on Aug-12-2003 20:19:

There is enuff time in any fellas life for clubbing, ladies and counterstrike. You just picked the wrong game. It could have been such a happy future.

Posted by Misty Kitty on Aug-12-2003 21:44:

Just dont forget there is enough time in a ladies life for Trance, Clubbing and Men.... most likely in that order unless they come hand in hand.
