that could so easily be misinterpreted

Hopefully will be getting Blueyonder 2mb very soon. Lots of tunes will have to be downloaded then!

Posted by DjSimonB on Aug-12-2003 23:46:

And I'm still stuck with 56k

Posted by sykadelik on Aug-13-2003 10:31:

I miss my 600k ntl connection

Posted by chojin on Aug-13-2003 15:16:

my 600k ntl is good enough, getting files at 70k is alright i think, even for dvd-r's it only takes a couple days.

Posted by willsimo on Aug-13-2003 23:48:

still on 56k aswel

getting broadband in a couple of months tho, whey!

Posted by jon on Aug-14-2003 00:33:

its a shame ntl's customer service consists of some crappy phone with 1 jingle on it, and 1 16 year spotty year old kid who cand find the S key on a keyboard...

more often than not though it doesn't matter the speed of connection u've got, with peer to peer proggies it's all about the speed of the sender, which I think sucks dick.

Only gonna benefit from 2mbit connection with multiple / segmented d/l proggies like *shudder* kazzaa or bit torrent

If i were you, I'd stay well clear of dsl, not that it's bad, its just cable's better. With dsl you can't use active mode on direct connect, which means you only get to share with half the pplz online (passive). Also, with cable ntl you have a static IP. The drawbacks are that your upload will cripple your download, but with dsl it wont.
Also, ntl give you a 1gb a day d/l limit (so do most dsl companies, but you just re-dial and get another I.P).

I love cable, prefer it to dsl, the pings on games seem to be better, but that's prolly just cuz i'm closer (in terms of jumps) to the backbone. Would say go with ntl m8, although their customer service, so i've heard (watchdog etc) is shit. good luck

What about Blueyonder 512k? is that DSL or Cable?

cos i gota static IP & a shitty 128k upload speed but i can use active mode on direct connect. NTL static IP isnt permanent it changes every few months like blueyonders. the NTL 1gb a day is bollocks btw, its only if ur downloading like 3gb+ a day then ul geta warning i know plenty of people who go over that limit n hear nothing from em!

Posted by kr00t0n on Aug-26-2003 14:48:

My pipex 512 connection is serving me lovely like

I've managed to be pulling down a total 200kbps from ppl on DC, and I got 80kbps offa one guy on a t3 line

I just wish pipex did 1 and 2 MB connections, coz now my flatmate is sharing bandwidth, and when we both p2ping it crawls

Like people have said, NTL is great, unless you need their customer services for anything.

I moved house last month, i called them to let them know, and they said it would take 3 weeks for an engineer to come and fit my line, when he finally came i found out that the first woman i spoke to hadn't moved my modem when she did the address change so it wouldn't register on the network, 24 hours and 4 phonecalls later (from my mobile which used all of my credit) and i'm back online, the people at the actual cable modem technical helpline know what they're talking about, but it's an 0845 number rather than the freephone number.

Oh, and to top it all off, My mum called up to get connected for my little brother at her new house, she got an appointment in 5 days!!

twats :P

but i love my 600k line

Posted by jamie on Aug-29-2003 22:25:

Ive got BT and its ok... i want the NTL 2mb one thats gonna come out later this year..

*dribbles*

Posted by Streakfury on Sep-01-2003 21:30:

I'm going for a phat 1Mb line this year, 35 a month. Sod paying rent, I want choons!!

Thats how much NTL are gonna charge us anyway. Sounds reasonable, but then I don't know anything about net prices these days, so they could charge us 50 for the engineer to use our toilet and I wouldn't complain.
