-- FX on different thing's
FX on different thing's
just came to think of something that might be helpfull for many.. especially newbies.. well.. anyone actually i guess.
what kind of FX do you use on all your different thing's in a production?
your drums (kick's, claps, hihat's etc.....) your melodies, strings, bass, FX, etc.....
booth filters you use almost all the time, and filters you use from time to time or not very often (please write how often you use them too.. could be intressting info)
caus i have noticed that i'm using pretty much the same filters all the time... with different settings offcourse.. and sometimes adding some extra filter... gotta start to play around more.
but please write what you are using
One thing that I use on my claps alot is Hipass filter.
I put the resonance knob at 100% and adjust the sound with the cutoff knob.
i use a lot of delay, eg on kicks before the reverse crash etc
delay is good for leads and crashes
On percussion, i use a lot of band pass filters to fit everything well on the frequencies.
Lots of delay too, even for bongos, tons, and low-filling stuff.
Much panning too, i use to put some layers of percs on one side and some to the other (not 100% though, something like 60%), so they dont fight for frequencies, and are felt like separated layers instead of merging together.
Stereo Enhancing too, sometimes, on some layer that i want to sound more far from the center.
I also use some delay on mid-bass if i want it more trancy.
i use white noise (aways band passed) to make some percussion stuff, whooshes, or fx (with flange or phaser).
Compression on percussion, maybe bass, sometimes leads...
Delay on leads, arps, backings, bass...
Reverb on pads, leads, pianos
, arps, backings...
