Opening of Aria - Dido (AVB Universal Religion Mix)

Is the first two minutes of this track actually a proper classical track or has AVB just made his own classical sounding melody?

They are taken from the original of Aria - Dido, which is an opera piece. This is also where the vocals are taken from, and why the credits for the tune all go to the original composers of the entire opera piece.

I've always wondered about the astronaut samples. Real mission or no?

They're real recordings from the Apollo missions. Different cuts from different missions, not a single dialogue as presented in Armin's mix. I know because I've heard them myself.

You can find some zipped packs of Apollo 11 wav files HERE. Browse down the page.

Technically Aria's Dido isn't an opera piece, but it is derived from Henry Purcell's opera "Dido and Aeneas".

Of further note (perhaps): Tiesto remixed Aria's Willow which itself is based on Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Otello".

It's kinda cool how closely some trance resembles highly appriciated and well known opera music. I think thats just yummy. At least people who diss our music cant say that it has no class or style!!

I love trance that has classical elements to it. Aria is a great example. I also find the following tunes amazing, if you got more to add - jump right in.

1. Ferry Corsten - Barber's Adagio for Strings
2. Gouryella - Ligaya (check out: www.gouryella.com)
3. Moonshine (Exor Mix Part Ii)
4. DJ Tiesto - Magik Journey
5. song from original matrix soundtrack (can't remember)
6. Gouryella - Tenshi
