Sasha - Xpander (Hybrid Remix)

When was this released? I think it must be pretty recent cos I never saw a remix of 'XPander' before. Not even on the hub. I just downloaded it and I love it!

And, are there anymore remixes of 'XPander'? Don't tell me about the DJ Orkidea Remix cos it is not a remix :->

I think it's a bootleg rather than a "proper" remix.

Posted by emul8or on Aug-19-2003 15:01:

It is some sort of bootleg. I didn't like it. It was released something like 2 years ago

Yes. Mystery is right. It's not a real remix but a bootleg, only mixed by the Hybrid guys i think. An ok bootleg but nothing amazing.

Sasha vs. Phantom Beats - Xpander Don't Care (Hybrid Bootleg Mix)

There are also Kudos Remix (which i haven't heard yet) and Minky Remix but that one's terrible.

i read somewhere that the mix wasn't even done by hybrid, but by someone else using some hybrid tracks or something and then releasing a bootleg titled "hybrid remix"! dunno anything for sure though!
anyway i'd say it's PRETTY hard to top the original, so IMO no remixes are needed!

Junkie XL did a bootleg with Underworld - Cowgirl and Xpander. The result is called Sasha vs. Underworld - Cowpander, sometimes it's also seen with (JXL Bootleg) in the end.

Yeah, that's why i said "i think" because i wasn't sure. Glad u pointed that out.

Posted by torontotrance on Aug-20-2003 00:31:

hybrid are smart...they would never remix a classic..that did not need to.

Sasha has never allowed remixes of it (junkie xl's mix is a bootleg gift of two songs)
He was asked get a remix of xpander last year...for the record label and he turned them down saying it did not need to be remixed. So instead what he did was get ppl to remix wavy gravy on his site and he played some of those at wmc2003.

Sasha is right, Xpander doesn't need to be remixed, any of the mixes won't and the existing bootleg mixes don't compare to original anyway.

it doesnt need to get remixed...but itd be cool to see Xpander with his ADD style...a lil ambient...

Even though I'm generally against all Xpander remixes or mash-ups I'd like to see James Holden have a crack at remixing it...

"Alot of our tracks have been DJ Tools such as the remix of Sash's Xpander"

Taken from Progsound in a Hybrid interview

find it for me.

Yes, Xpander is perfect, but don't you think a remix can provide another listening experience? the purpose of a remix is to add something to a track or change the feeling of a track, not necessarily to make it more perfect.

Hence, a remix of XPander doesnt do any harm. Just my opinion :->

I agree with what you are saying, but there are sometimes, tracks like Xpander that should only be heard in a single interpretation

A lot of our tracks have been 'dj tools' such as the mix of Sasha's Xpander which was basically the main riff of xpander over a track by Cardiff based boys Phantom Beats. I used to do it in a set, but actually did a version in the studio, give out a few copies and now if turns out its been bootlegged. We just like to remix or re-jig tracks that leave a mark on us. If they dont get released then that doesnt bother us, it means its an exclusive mix we have to play out and something that our fans will try and obtain at all costs.

Yup they did do the mix....as a tool for their sets.....like pvd does and it got bootlegged to fuck.

weird...i always figured since someone said someone else did it, it was a "Hybrid" mix...but seeing as how they did do it...pretty cool. heard Sasha was cannin this one, but i havent seen a tracklistin from around then that has it
