Talking MTV finally getting it?

Just saw MTV Europe's "Dance Floor Chart" this evening. Nothing But You was #3, i died, didn't quite expected to see that tune played on MTV. #2 was Satisfaction. Though rest of the top 10 was pure house/other lame music, could it possibble be that after all these years, MTV has reckoned that trance rules?

No. It's only 1 video

Let's hope it's not a fluke

satisfaction is very commercial house. and nothing but you is commerical trance...simple as that.

cool, didn't know NBY was commercial... anyway, just because it reaches mainstream, doesnt label it as bad

Nope, but it usually means it was bad to begin with.

I will not here another bad word about NBY. A rip-off of 'Hemstock and Jennings - Arctic' it may very well be, but it's still cool.

Anywayz, I think music channels always seem to go downhill. They start off quite good, then turn to shite as they realise they can make more money by playing crap. Shame.

No; MTV will never get it.

They won't ever get it until their demographics get it. Thats how mtv decides how to run themselves, by extensive market research ..

i got into trance kind of late, around the year 99 and 2000 and actually mtv latino (for latin america) is where i first heard pvd's for an angel, of course i was blown away, i also remember them playing meet her at the love parade...

but then i started downloading music from the internet and i haven't watched mtv since then.

MTV is the devil

Posted by noikeee on Aug-19-2003 23:00:

at that same dancefloor chart, i've seen stuff as ferry corsten, 4 strings, ocean lab, perpetuous dreamer, rank 1, blank & jones

glad i'm not that much into that kind of trance.. haha

and yes, house is lame by my standarts, at least the house they play here dark prog house is good though

Hmm... part of me likes the fact that MTV in US does not play trance - keeps soccer moms away from humming "Traveling somewhere, could be anywhere.." as they haul their nasty brats around suburbia.

I surely wish to see some european trance videos here, tho. But it would be like "supa secret" or smth.

I know someone in MTV US that does the research.

Couple months ago I said to her to research trance music in Europe and I think they just started.

Mtv got it a long time ago. Play what the people want to hear. They dont care what kind of music it is, as long as people are watching. Its you guys who dont get it

Paul van dyk is all over toronto radio, and all the dumb kids listen to him now. its quite dissapointing in my opinion.

No offense but I think alot of people on here "don't get it". However I know that everyone has an opinion and we all have our own "unique" tastes n whatnot so its all good. Personally I dont give a rats ass about MTV. I haven't watched that channel since the late 80's.
