Hello! DJ Mystik

Yeah. DJ MYSTIK. A lot of people hate this DJ, saying he is a recyling DJ cuz he never creates his own tune. But i really like this dude cuz hez got some mad skillz! If u have a chance, download his Twilo set.

Also i want to clearify that there are TWO famous dj mystik's in the world. There is the asian dj mystik, whom i am talkin about, resides in Los Angeles. There is another DJ Mystik who resides in Belgium. Sorry i dont know much about him.

DJ mystik was able to redeem himself temporarily with Crystal Skies. It showed a LOT of promise for Mystik in time to come. Unfortunatley, his next disk (and his newest) entitiled Plur 2 once again shows Dj Mystik putting a playlist who's quality is none greater than C R A P.

The best disks of DJ mystik i've heard is:
Crystal Skies
Forever as One
Plur
Trinity

BTW, to all, even if u hate Dj mystik...
Go to AudioG or whatever and look for Eternity 2001. Mystik mixed this in one of his albums. This track is simply AMAZING, i've never been able to find the artist tho.

aww, what a wonderful guitar (acoustic guitar???) buildup.

ya, i guess it does P=ss me off seeing my friends (those socal asian teen ravers) constantly say "wow, Dj mystik's song called Iguana is the best" or "hey, u gotta download Dj Mystik's Out of the blue". I have to steer them in the right direction of Mauro Piccottos and System F's and they still constantly say Dj mystik produces most of those songs...

...but does Dj Mystik produce some of those songs?
anways, hearing it [eternity 2001] again just inspired me to look for the original artist again. but somewhere (and i just forgot where) said that Dj Mystik actually DID produce it himself.
On Plur, there is a remix of Better Off Alone which i NEVER EVER found the original artist to. it had this KILLER piano loop. I'm guessing possibly Dj Mystik remixed it himself, but i dunno...

Posted by Sunlounger on Jun-26-2001 06:30:

I still think his twilo mix is one of his finest works. I mean, he is the first asian dJ to perform in the big stage. That means a lot for those aspiring asian DJs, like dj epic, dj matrix, dj karma...etc. I dunno...most of his songs are remixed, but he add this "asian style" to the songs, thus attracts a lot of azn ravers.

According to www.hypnotika.org, Mystik had more than 30 albums out. I really hope he can spin with tiesto or picotto someday.

peace out

Question

since when did DJ Mystik (Asian) spin at Twilo? Twilo was closed like 1-2 monthes ago, not that clear on when it closed. I doubt he would, people in NY in my opnion would be throwing garbage at him after all, that's what he is . DJ Mystik does make his own songs, I never said he didn't make all of them, the songs I am probaly guessing is that he made those happy hardcore like. He just bites them and sells them at his profit. Ditto for me to dvd, if he spinned with DJ Tiesto, I hope DJ Tiesto sticks his turntable up his ass, after all, DJ Mystik never made Out Of The Blue!

Posted by dvd on Jun-27-2001 03:57:

yep..there must be a reason why every mystik listener i know thinks they know trance cause they listening to mystik and maybe some REAL trance ..and say their favorite artist is dj mystik....

please give him a chance....i bet u'll enjoy his music

Posted by Sunlounger on Jun-27-2001 19:20:

hey, I liseten to trance (Tiesto, PVD, Mauro Picotto are my favorites). I used to listen to mystik when i first started lisetnin to trance music. Yeah it is very chessy when i listen to it now, but dont bash on this artist! i mean he still got a lot of love from SoCal raverz. i bet u can never find his albums in any store cuz he hopes to stay underground. He doesnt want to make PROFIT out of his msuic. Doesnt that justify his purpose of makin ppl enjoy his music?

Posted by djSlain on Jun-27-2001 20:01:

Ya, Mystik was sort of like my gateway into trance. However, as i matured as a "trancer", i just noticed that A LOT of his tracks were Cheese, immature, and all followed the genre of a Happy Asian Vocal trance.
After a while, that kind of style gets boring, repetetive, and unimaginative. I went off into PVD and Tiesto and such as compared to Mystik, their playlists were only about 10% cheese (compared to mystik's 99%...)
Yes, i DID give him a "chance" and he almost had my respects with Crystal Skies, but he failed once again with his latest release Plur 2.
I wonder if any of us has seen him live. @Hypnotika.org, they show Dj mystik spinning a lot around the US.

Posted by Sunlounger on Jun-27-2001 20:08:

i feel u DJslain...but even hypnotika doesnt have dj mystik's pix because he wants to stay reclusive. ^_*

Thumbs down DJ Mystic

Since you say there are two, I'm not completely sure which one I'm about to ramble about, but I suppose it's the US one (the one you like) since I heard a track in which he/she spins with another trashy american DJ. Can't even remember the track's name, but it was DJ Epic and DJ Mystic. Worse "trance" (if that can be called trance/techno) DJ's on the face of the planet. Geez, I have some other DJ Epic tracks I dloaded by "accident" (when I find a good track on someone's drive I'll sometimes dload random tracks I've never heard about to see if I get anything good), it's the cheesiest, crappiest commercial trance/techno I've ever heard. I mean, if you like that stuff, you must have loved Alice Deejay, Sarina Paris, Vengaboys (barfs repeatedly, turns pale). I'm not sure which one is worse, but I think Epic takes the trophy, the Epic+Mystic one was slightly "better" than the Epic ones. Of course that's all IMO.

Posted by tranceboi54 on Jun-28-2001 05:26:

When you go underground, it's because of the music, hence no profit, if he was true underground in my opnion, he should have not bited off Cosmic Gate, Watergate, System F, and other artists. That's just fucking wrong, making profit off of people's song. And since when did DJ Epic make Fable, give the producers their damn credit they deserve.

Posted by dvd on Jun-29-2001 04:48:

well then if mister underground is so tight why does he call something a remix when its just him playing the tune..well beatmatcing is not called remixing...also if he dont make a profit...why do his cd covers say..NO CDR...hmmmmm sound to me this underground fellow wants to make money off famous ppl without giving the real artists credit

Posted by djSlain on Jun-29-2001 15:44:

i think his fans (mostly those socal asian poser ravers) are all ignorant. And then when they find a Dj mystik Cd, they say "hey Dj Mystik makes great music." so then they encode it to MP3, add the ID3 tag to say Dj mystik as the artist, spread it around Napster, and then THAT's how everyone believed Dj Mystik made all those songs. The same thing with Dj Epic. So i really feel it was the fan's fault.

Posted by dvd on Jun-29-2001 19:59:

yep..i hate dj mystik listeners..all these chinese raver.. like my friend he was like...well i forgot he's just some dj mystik listener and they think he's good. they dont like trance..they like cheese trance and pop trance right? he says pvd is boring ...and his type of music is boring...they shouldnt call it trance. i hate people who makes trance into pop..like dj mystik does..he should die...die now *holds up pitchfork with a angry mob*
