What trance song "defines" trance?
I don't know if any thread like this has been put up.. but here goes
suppose we were to make a time capsule... what single (one) trance song would we put in it so that the people in the future would "understand" trance??

For me it'd have to be:

yes we have dicussed this many times. favorite track, perfect song, and the song tha defines trance. there isnt one song. the genre defines itself. different people have different tastes and as you already see, there are many different people with different responses.
A trance song that defines trance, damm.. there's many, is like the same saying, what is your favorite trance tune, you know that you'll be posting your fave trance tune in here also...
Any trance song that takes you on a state of TRANCE, or a state of ECSTACY is trance, trance means = A higher state of altered conciousness.. so any song that takes you in it can be called, TRANCE, or named by such.
I would have to say Barber's Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) or Paul van Dyk - For an Angel, both these define trance pretty much but trance's real definition is up to the listener...
I'd say:

I would say, for me, these 3 songs define Trance:
PvD - For An Angel
Delerium - Silence (DJ Tiesto In Search of Sunrise mix)
Jan Johnston - Flesh (DJ Tiesto mix)
personally, i think its
adam dived - deep inside
i think thats the epitome of trance...
That's simple...William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) defines trance with the greatest riffs ever.
For me, it's at first place, 'The First Wave' from Godazia. Also Nordlander with 'Into the sky'.
As mix, I would say Ferry Corsten with 'Live at Trance Energy, 29-04-2000', really like heaven on earth...
yeah lets not turn this into a "favorite track" thread, those are so tiring.
i think a good "time capsule" track would be sasha - xpander
the other stuff you could stretch and call it dance... electronica even kinda stuff (even system f)
but there's nothing you can describe xpander except... TRANCE

First of all, u should know there are several types of trance
i like epic/melodic trance most
greatest ferry tracks:
gouryella - tenshi
system f : out of the blue
verracocha : carte blanche
and push - universal nation - the ferry rmx
they are the greatest examples of epic-trance
and my favorite tune of the moment

This is really complex. It would have to be a song which has all the styles, progressive, epic, uplifting, etc; which I don't think exists.
Trying to find this song is like trying to find a kind of food that defines Food.
However when I think of trance I think of Spoiled & Zigo - More & More.
