OrgaNik - Together We Shine (Halo 'Shining' Remix)

I started working on this a few weeks ago - some of you might remember a work in progress i posted up, i have since moved house and had three weeks with no internet to distract me so i got on with making some music, one of the projects was to finish this thing off, I feel i almost have the vision in my head reproduced here - but me being a perfectionist am still not 100% happy with the result. Plus all the 'Mastering' i have done has just been with the effects included in Soundforge as i lost my installtion of Ozone when windows crashed on me the other week!!

anyway - here it is:

let me know what you wonderful people think of it.

Ahh... nearly forgot all about this.

*Downloading*

How'd your move go?

Ahh yesss... really lovely and smooth.

Love the smooth pad and the breaks.
I was expecting a bit more energy when the 4/4 kicked back in but it seems you've made it more of a "teaser" mix that never quite gives the energy it promises. I love it.

Easily the best remix I've heard so far, thanks.

BTW, is the open hihat panned somewhat to the right or is it just me?

Cheers Nik

move went fine, thanks for asking.

The hi-Hats, yes, i was trying something out the open hat is panned 40% to the right while the closed hat is panned 40% to the left, does it not sound OK? if not i wont use that again - lol

Well panning of the open hihat sounds somewhat weird.
Panning of the closed hihats is fine but the open hihat is better when it's centered.

I'd have to disagree with Mr.Mystery on that one. OHH sound fine when panned.

An example that comes to mind is DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Aug-23-2003 08:47:

Yeah, but there are multiple OHH's in that one.

Nobody else even remotely interested in this then?

such a shame - you're missing out.

listening.. so far so good..

those are some interesting beats that come back in..

k, im done listening and it was pretty good.. its kinda just a chill remix which isnt bad, but i felt like there could be a little more going on.. maybe even just some more atmospheric sounds like pads and such, but it sounded good and it was cool to hear somebody trying to do something different. keep it up.

Nice remix, the hats thing i think is a good idea &m i think it works fine! Like the way the break beat builds in the breakdown

Good Job!

(Glad 2 hear the move went OK)

Kool remix, not to keen on the instrument you got that melody running through but

Good sound, maybee make the percussion a little larger or thicker maybee, sounds allitle thin in that respect, but then again ive been listening to wild boy breaks all morning.

Keep it up,

This was nice and crisp production wise all the way through. I think its missing some elements though, it seems a little bit empty. If you thicken up the mix a little bit it would bring it up from great to fantastic.

what would you suggest to thicken up the sound, people often say stuff like that, but i'm not entirely sure how to achieve it.

Shep, where's my review

cheers people

loved the piano! freakin nice. lol, the piano just adds so much, the breaks are nice as well. really served the original well. the hihats are a bit too out there IMO. i cant really explain it though...lol. the way u used the melody is tight too. tons of emotion in this one...really well done

A really nice take on the original, with some really good ideas.
