Software - Tempo Increase?
Hey folks!
I'm looking for a piece of software that allows you to speed up/slow down, a song, WITH the ability to save that now-altered song.
Solar Stone feat. Liz Fields - Speak In Sympathy (Original Mix), sounds 10 times better with a 10% tempo increase... DJ Bart used it in his "Welcome to the Club SSL", back in '02.
Does anyone know of such software? And NO, I don't want it to be part of a set... I want it to come out as a single.
Cool Edit Pro has this feature, and most likely Sound Forge.

There's also another program called Mixmeister, what it will try to do is speed up the tempo but keep the pitch the same. The sound quality of the tempo-altered song is not the greatest, but you won't get high-pitched vocals, which is a plus.
You can also try programs like PCDJ, BPM Studio, etc. They are the type of program for live mixing, where you can adjust the pitch. In addition to this, you would need to have a program that records from 'stereo mix'. It's more complicated and probably won't sound as good as the other programs.
Overall I would recommend Cool Edit Pro. You can download a free demo of it that should fit your needs. You can just uninstall when you're done with it.
Alrighty then... This sucks. I downloaded a few of the softwares that you recommended BUT I have no clue what to do when I load the song and then click on "Tempo". A bunch of numbers including "Time", "Beats", and other stuff are available to screw around with.
So... I decided to turn this into a request. If ANYONE could increase the tempo on "Solar Stone feat. Liz Fields - Speak In Sympathy (Original Mix)" by 10% and save it + Load it up on the net or send through E-mail, I'd be extremely grateful.
Since you know so much about softwares, El~ZaPo, is there a chance that you can take up my request?
Can't really email files that large, but what I can do is guide you through using Cool Edit Pro.
1. Load the song into the program. It will generate a waveform for the entire file.
2. From the menu, click on 'Effects'-->'Time/Pitch'-->'Pitch Bender'. A window will pop up called 'Pitch Bender'.
3. Under 'Quality Level', select 'Perfect (slowest)'.
4. You will see a part that says 'Range'. Select the option on the bottom that looks like "____ BPM, with a base of ____ BPM". Fill in the first box with 10. Fill in the next box with 130. Near the middle of the window, there is a checkbox labelled 'Spline', uncheck the box.
5. Look at the top half of the window, there are points on a grid that correspond with time of the song, and tempo of the song. The BPM/tempo is listed on the right hand side going vertically, and the time of the song is horizontal along the bottom. What you need to do is make a straight horizontal line at the BPM you want. Since this song is 130bpm, put the line at 140 BPM (which should be at the very top of the graph window. You'll want the line to be straight so that the tempo stays the same during the whole song. You don't want it to speed up half way through, etc.
6. When this is done, click on 'Preview' and you can listen to the song with the changed BPM. If you are not happy with it, (too fast, or too slow) you can adjust the graph to change the speed. Put it lower to slow it down, raise it to make it faster. If you need to raise it, you'll have to change the first box that says "___ BPM, " to a number higher than 10. (if you want to gain 15 bpm, put it to 15, and raise the line on the graph to the top). Preview again if you'd made changes to make sure you like how it sounds. When you're happy with it, press 'OK' and it will change the tempo of the entire song (this will take a while). When you're done, go 'Save as' and save it under a new name, so that you still have the original version of the song.
7. That's it, you're done!
WOW! Your information has been very useful, and for that, I thank you, dearly.
I'm in the process of editing the song now
You're welcome. Good luck, let me know how it turns out.
Erm... The trial version doesn't let you "Pitch Bend". I tried everything...
You might also want to try the demo version of BPM studio from www.alcatech.com. I sometimes use this software to listen to songs with a higher tempo, I think demo version allows you to record too, so you can play your song with a higher tempo and record it as mp3/wav. This might not be the best way to do it, but might be worth trying.

Alright, I can do that. I can't do it right now but later today I'll pm you when its ready.
Alrighty
Thanks a bunch!
There is also a djing plug-in for Winamp. I've never used it myself, but my friend has and it can match tempos etc. Maybe if you can use that in conjunction with the wave writer or soundforge...
The plugin for winamp is called DSP pitch. It is good and i use it personally but it makes one hell of a horrible ringing / watery effect but this is the same as using programs like AtomixMP3, BPM Studio, PCDJ etc...
I reccomend programs like cool edit pro and soundforge but as you say it dont work with trials but you could always do the naughty thing which im not gonna say because ill probablies get my ass kiked
