do you download mp3?

the scene is in a pretty critical time right now concerning mp3 downloads and changes in the industry, so i think it'd be interesting to see the percentage of TA's that support the artist by buying their tunes, or just downloading mp3 from the hub or somewhere else. PLEASE ANSWER SINCERELY TO THIS POLL.

personally i'm among the people who just download mp3 from the hub without buying the tunes, but looking forward to start buying some records once in a while in the near future. i know it isn't right at all, but having to import the records to get what i want and still not making my own money are the biggest causes for it.

The arguement of buying to support the artist is bullshit. You buy a record, they get about .40 (American). Big deal. Half the time, not even that, if they have a pre-pay deal. You mostly just support the RIAA, or some other Trade Orginisation, and the record label.

Ah well. Such is life.

I download anything of interest (sometimes not even that), but delete ones I don't really care about due to limited hard drive space. I buy a good number of the ones that make the cut (Probably about 40%) but only if a) I have the money, and b) I find them at my local record store or affordably online (meaning Chemical Records or Ebay; everywhere else has prices and shipping that are too high, and American online records stores are basically crap).

I download mp3's, but not like hundreds per week. Plus when I'm tired of a track or I don't even like it at all, the mp3 goes straight to the recycle bin.

I buy music very often. I think about 2-5 cd's per month. Not only trance, but everything I like.

I download a lot of mp3's, but those are mainly livesets. When i like a DJ and he made an album, then i buy it. The last cd i bought was Armin v Buuren's new cd, though i already had it on my pc for a while.

I don't have any decks, but i do buy cds once in a while, if there's something i really like..

I don't download mp3 very often, coz I've got a slow connection, and I've got decks so most of the tunes I like come out on vinyl. And there's just something I like about owning a 'real' copy of a tune, or a CD...

I'd download a gigabyte a day or sth If I was on Dsl and not on a single ISdn line. I download full albums[not that often], singles, music that I want to learn to hear(trying to get into Progressive and finding D&b tracks), or some track that I heard on the radio ages ago and liked it so much. This way I can find out which album it was on and buy it or sth.
I don't buy everything I download. I can't find the tracks in stores. I'm gonna pay somebody if he gets me Yahel - Voyage on vinyl+ cd, but I can't find every track.
I buy albums(mainly-I don't find decent singles to buy and as for vinyl, I'm just starting to buy some though,they're prettey expensive) that I might have downloaded off the net just as I plan to get PLacebo - Sleeping with Ghosts.
But, can't buy it all. I would If I could

[I download a fair bit but am starting to use the mp3 samples at juno, vinyl warning etc more now as they save me mb. I'll download full tracks if I expect to like them and if I do I buy them if not I'll still keep the mp3 though.

I can't remember the last time I bought something. I download mp3's like it's goin outta fashion (who know's one day the RIAA etc may shut down p2p altogether). When they shutdown Napster I lost all respect for the record companies, besides the artists themselves get close to fuck all, out of each sale.
