Lyon will surprise many I think, Vikash Dhorasoo is an imense player though I think they have just sold Sonny Anderson.

Looking forward to the true battle of britain, champions vs champions, for the first time in ten years!

Cannot wait for the Rangers - Man Utd matches, hope the Gers can get one over on the Scum

Definitely, I have watched a few of their games on Eurosport and they have some technically fine players, I think they will come second

I agree with the huns I think Lyon will shock. To be honest Celtic have a strong group to get through we need to work hard to get 2nd place in that group.

They should be good games but the term "battle of britain" is always used for these games. The vast majority of people in England hate Man Utd and millions of people in Scotland hate Rangers. A lot of people in England will be behind Rangers, and a lot of people in Scotland will be behind Man Utd.

Personally I'm not sure who I'd support, I wouldn't mind seeing Man Utd kicked out of the first group stage (unlikely I know) so I guess I'd support Rangers against them, although it wouldn't bother me much either way. I think most people here would feel the same, but sadly Man Utd will be strong favourites.

If Bayern Munich repeat their poor European form of last year then Celtic have a solid chance. Newcastle played Bayern in a friendly a few weeks ago (after they had already began their season), both sides fielded a near full strength 11 and went at it and Bayern are certainly beatable. The result was 2-2, Newcastle took the lead twice, Bayern equalised first through an undeserved free kick 20 yards out and their second only came in the 90th minute. They were knocked out of the first group phase last year after they finished last in their group and they will be trying to put that right this year.

Lyon will have a good Cl campaign.
They just signed Giovanne Elber from Bayern Munich and he is a goal-scoring machine.

As for Bayern Munich, i hope they get knocked out in the early stages just like the season.

I hate Bayern Munich!

A bad day yesterday for me. Both Newcastle and Dortmund knocked out of the CL

have to strongly disagree with this one.

real sociedad are a brilliant team. they beat madrid twice last season and are a very good football team. they may even shock juve.

Posted by PacMan on Sep-01-2003 20:43:

juve will be suprised by sociedad.

escpecially since kovasevic will have something too prove since he has been in juve and failed too make a impact.

Can't wait for l'O.M - Real @ Le Velodrome in November, I can imagine the reception home boy Zizou will get. Too bad he won't be wearing the right jersey.

Marseille will have undoubtedly a tough task in this group but everything is possible... keeping the fingers crossed... ALLEZ L'O.M!

This is the one I don't agree with PSV will finish 2nd. I was on Holiday in France this week and last sunday we drove to Monaco and watched them play and fucking hell it was weird.

In French football I swear they rarely seem to tackle each other and seem to prefer to intercept the ball in midfield it looked very dangerous and if Monaco played the same game they played against Metz on sunday against top opposition I will guarentee they will get punished. However Rothern and Guily impressed me both very good players plus on their centre backs is handy.

Fucking weird ground that Louis XII or whatever its called they had birds who directed you too your seats not like the UK where you find and make your way to your own seat.

Only gripe about it. Their supporters fucking suck the worst support I have seen in my life, a group of little teenagers getting off their scooters trying to act tough with their banners I laughed at them and thought if ever they came over to the UK they would get skinned alive, but I give them some respect they sang however there was only 100 odd of them who sang but the songs sounded like some dodgy vengaboy style track, the other 10,000 Monaco odd fans Sat there and didn't say a word!!!!!!!!! I was fucking digusted I have seen away support of 500 ppl make more noise. My sister and her Boyfriend who watch a lot of french football and go to games a lot said the bigger clubs like PSG and Marseille have the best fans.

Dude, you must be crazy

last season Ajax came in the quarter final against AC Milan, and they lost from them in the fucking last minute, otherwise Ajax would have been in the semi-final

Ajax will become 2nd or 3rd for sure, Club Brugge isn't that good, and I also think that Ajax can easily beat Celta

Felix Magath will do wonders with Stuttgart this season in the CL. Many people will be very suprised on how they go. Kevin Kuranyi will be up there amongst the top scorers

P.S. Can someone tell me how to get the person's name in the quote'? 'orginally posted...' Thanks

Don't underestimate Brugge, they beat Borussia Dortmund in the qualification, which is indeed a very good team.
But I know for sure, that Ajax isn't a bad team at all. We will see..

I really hope so. Last season. Stuttgart gained the 2nd place with a young and ambitious team in the German Bundesliga. Even for the fans the qualification to the Championsleague was a big surprise. I really trust in the coach, Felix Magath, he and his team will do their best.
The first match is today at 20.45 in Glasgow: Rangers : VfB.

And a notice to all Celtic fans: we could make a deal: We will beat the Rangers if you beat Bayern Munich.
