Travelling to and living in the UK

Hi fellow TA's, in late September im coming over to England for 7/8 months.

I was just wondering if some of you knew any useful websites that listed jobs and also I need to find out the cost of renting/living.

I've done the usual googling but thought you locals might know the better places to look.

the sticky thread at the top of the forum for non UKTA & IRTA was also very helpful.

Thanks,

if u want to live in London, i'm the person to talk to. You'll need a: a lot of money
b: dedication to work your bollocks off

if u want to live in the north u don't need either of those

the best website for searching for jobs is www.worktrain.co.uk it has all the jobs that the jobcentre have on sytem all over the country.

basically its more expensive to live in the south, but u generally get higher wages.. the northern people are generally more friendly (with the exceptions obviously) but dont live in manchester

if for example u were looking for a 2 bedroom semi-detatched house in chesterfield, ur looking at around 350-400 per month

depends whereabouts u live, but my brothers ex lived somewhere in the city centre when she was at uni, in the first 3 months she was held at knifepoint for all her 3 times.

pretty wank really..

oh yea, the 350-400 is the chearer end of the scale.. but fuck, 1300 is wank

hell yes!!!!!

anyway, it depends where u r in Surrey, as its a fucking massive county. If you're in the Kingston Area, that means u r very very close to me, so about an hour from the London UKTA Massive
otherwise u could be in the Guildford/Farnham area, which is a bit further out (about 15 miles from me)

let us know and we'll sort ya out

Posted by evil_bastard on Sep-04-2003 00:32:

Surrey looks really nice from what I've seen, it's the richest county in the country I think.

Not only the housing but also the job situation varies a lot depending on where you go. I wouldn't advise coming to the north-east if you want a job. Rent here is much much cheaper, this is probably the cheapest place for rent but there's a reason for that.
