Anyone here addicted to weed?

Are we allowed to talk about drugs here?

I apologise if the answer is no.

By comparison, weed isn't really drug anyway...

Seeing as how a physical addiction isn't possible, I think I'm psychologically addicted to weed. I started almost 10 years ago when I was 15 and I've had at least one joint per day for the last 10 years. I don't even think i've gone for more than a week without smoking. I think i've become dependant on it for it's more redeeming qualities. I often tell people that "it calms the voices". Before all of you go screaming 'nutcase' I just mean that my mind is usually racing. I can't be left to my own devices because I have all these thoughts and scenarios flying around all the time at light speed. When I smoke weed, everything calms to a screeching halt.

It's pretty much guaranteed to sedate me no matter how crazy things are.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone have any solutions?

Not addicted to weed....and it is a drug. It just happens to be more socially acceptable than drugs like crack, and hence why smokers always try to disassociate weed from the label of "drug."

I think this discussion is entirely open for debate.

While social acceptability plays a big part, I think the regulations of the local authorities plays an equally big part.

I think of weed as being completely separate from other "drugs" because of its less physically addictive quantites and the fact that it's not as mind altering.

caffienne is considered as a drug because it's highly addictive, and alters your mood, and yet, nobody seems to think so....

conversely, alchohol is more dangerous than marijuana has ever been and yet people still think marijuana is so bad.

  1. I am a NARC (yes, just like the video game from the nintendo years)

I'm fully up for a weed debate.

I never claimed that caffeine and alcohol aren't drugs. Of course they are. Caffeine doesn't impair the way alcohol and weed can/do though.

Why do you think the "regulations of the local authorities plays an equally big part?" You mean, weed shouldn't be considered a drug because the local authorities have eased their focus on it as such?

I don't think marijuana is "bad." It's side effects are much different than that of alcohol's, though. Weed has its negative effects just like every other substance you ingest.

weed IS a drug

i have gotten into 2 car accidents in my life...both times i was stoned...both times i would have reacted quicker had i been sober

also about the whole admiting to use and getting arrested...you cant because they cant ever prove it was you that was using the computer

I am reading a book called "FatLand" which outlines the obesity epidemic in America - I can tell you how many people die of obesity related diseases if I flip back to the intro.

It's difficult to tell how many "weed-associated" deaths there may be, though. Unless you can OD in a single moment, there are so many contributing factors leading up to a death that it's difficult to pinpoint cause. (just like "Mc-Donalds" deaths.)

ok ok ok... it's time for me to post:
drugs are neither good nor bad. it's the use of it that defines it as good or bad.

ex1: car accident, broke 12 bones, fracture 5 bones, two torn ankle ligaments and a concusion; Emergecy doc writes an Rx for morphine.

ex2
14 year old at a rave with 3 XTC pills.. pops all 3 in a 2 day period.
then parties the next weekend does the same....

ex3
20 year old, 2nd year univ, week after exams, 1/8 oz of shrooms...
get it?

given the context of the situation, it all becomes relative and to break it down, it comes to 3 main things: the reason in which drugs are taken, the type of drug and period in which the drug (or any other drugs) were taken.

i dont dont support drug use.. i don't support excessive drug use.

moderation is the key...

I was chronic for about 7 years and then due to medical reasons I had to quit... yes it can have bad side effects on some even after no problems with it for the first 6 1/2 years.

Personally it speeds my mind up, and those whirling scenario's... I get that if I'm buzzed, not sober. But the mental addiction comes with escapism, as in getting away from reality into my own world that plus the mental stimulation that inspired creativity and openmindedness in me was the main reason I smoked.

end result thru all the years that I was an active smoker, I recieved my college diploma in EET, and now licenced electrician to boot... so for me it wasnt bad at all and did no harm.

I reiterate, moderation is the key!

Hmm, during the summer I smoke multiple times a week, but I am responsible so when the school year starts I control myself as it does affect how sharp your thinking is.
