Angry I think I'm going mad...

Got my new 19" flat-screen monitor today, which was nice. Problem is that as soon as I switched it on I honed in on a sizeable patch of minor discolouration, and try as I might I just can't ignore the bastard thing. The problem is that I'm the only one in my family who can actually see it. Which makes me feel like I'm seeing things or I'm going mental. As a result of this wholly pathetic issue I'm considering asking the manufacturer for a replacement, though I can't help but feel guilty for getting so pissed off over an issue which really shouldn't be of any significance whatsoever.

So yes, the end result is that I have this bizarre feeling that I'm going stark raving bloody bonkers. Sorry for sharing something so ridiculous.

The part about seeing things / going mental + your avatar =

But seriously: Since there is something wrong with the monitor, you should be able to have it replaced hassle-free. Something like this is probably common for a monitor manufacturer or retailer.

do you have any unshielded speakers next to or near you monitor?

Nah, I moved them well away to avoid this very issue! Also degaussing the monitor has no effect on the size or 'density' of the dull patch. It's definitely not right, methinks.

take it back and get a replacement.

Yea well on my dad's 19" Trinitron, theres this really high pitched buzzing noise coming from inside it that only I can hear. Theres a ton of other stuff wrong with the unit too. I need to take advantage of the warranty before it's too late.

take it back, you paid for a perfectly working product, and it seems you didn't get what you paid for.

Try playing with the refresh rate or your videocard may be either slightly loose or overheating.
