Posted by lurid on Sep-05-2003 21:29:

that's the assumption now wasn't it?

Posted by charmscars on Sep-05-2003 21:37:

but you know what they say about assumptions...

they make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'

Posted by Tordan on Sep-05-2003 21:45:

well then, that makes the two of us!

dunno how we could do this Ben...I can find a movie that isn't sold out and grab a ticket for you beforehand or you can come the day of the movie and line up for 'rush' tickets...though you are not likely to get in unless you get there hours before...trust me, it's not fun when you find out you can't get in after lining up for hours...

The fest is screwed up that way...make it so hard to see the films...I had to get my tickets a month ago and pick the movies within 2 days of the movie info being released...then cross my fingers and hope that I got my first choices!

Here's what I'm watching...

Elephant
Lost In Translation
Nicotina
Nothing
21 Grams
The Man of the Year
Code 46
Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself
The Brown Bunny

yeah it is! you'll get a chance to see some of them when they come into wide release or at the 'smaller' films at theatres like cumberland/carleton/canada square eventually anyway...

useless gossip: my friends spotted the very young looking girl from 'matchstick men' in her limo making out with a man in his 50s!

I love the film festival craziness.. I worked there the past 4 years.. and the most I've seen was 39 movies in a week two years ago

anyways, this year:
Goodbye, Lenin - Germany (saw a trailor in Moscow, where it doesn't start showing until the end of this week..)
Vozvrashenie: The Return - Russia
Ljeto u zlatnoj dolini: Summer in the Golden Valley, as mentioned above
Silence between two thoughts - Iran
Japanese Story - Australia (watched it yesterday for free, lingering around movie theatres helps ), liked it
Buongiorno, Notte: Good morning, night - Italy
The last customer - Italy, gotta love Nanni Moretti
Il cuore altrove: A heart elsewhere - Italy
Travellers and Magicians - I forget..
Gori vatra: Fuse - Bosnia (I don't think I'll catch it cause it's rush only and I'm busy that day.. hope it comes on video)
The Galiendez file - Spain
I'm not scared - Italy
What the eye doesn't see - Peru
Last life in the Universe - Thailand.. hmm not bad, I've seen a few and I actually realized that I needed a couple of days for Thai films to grow on me
Purple Butterfly - China/France

lots of waiting.....

it was good, but not great. good cinematography, amusing at times, absurd plot.

www.bell.ca/filmfest, clicn Toronto International Film Festival and side bar: Films
and everything is sold out. almost.
by the way, you wouldn't want a ticket for a Russian film tonight: The Return (Vozvrashenie), at 10pm? I can't make it
