Sydney weekend inc. Transmission Afterthoughts....

what can I say..... you Sydney siders have it pretty good!! Always thought Melbourne was the shit but think we've got some competition from you guys. Weather, women and clubs were all stellar!!

Friday nite went to the ta meet up. Was good to fianlly meet all the sydney ta's. Big ups to Selena (Chookie) for organising everything. The 3 course meal was really nice, good company and god tunes (despite a few train wrecks along the way!!) lol.

Transmission Afterthoughts....

Rocked up at about 2am, unfortunately missed Liquid M, Stama etc as we got lost and took a little bit to get our shit together. Finally got in to catch the last bit of John Ferris and I think Jumping Jack (or got of been nervous) not sure as was hard to see.

got there last few tunes:
Clokx - Clocks (Ron van den Beuken Mix)
Igor S - Boomerang
Ricky Foris - No Regular

Next up was Scotty Project. As soon as he jumped on their was a huge roar (think it was obvious who people were there to see). His set was absolutely stellar, nice mix of his own productions and quality fresh hard and banging tunes. can't remember much of what he played but here goes.

Sensation - The Anthem 2003 (Igor S Remix)
Eruption - I Feel Free (Dj Choose & That Mucho Remix)
SOD Dinero (Sean Dexter Mix)
Arome Overdrive (Scot Project Mix)

honestly, this is terrible but I cant really remembered that much stuff that he played, Overdrive was the encore, but it was an awesome set, well crafted and carried out with precision. ABSOLUTE QUALITY!!

Next up was the boys from Melbourne, Steve B and Hellraiser.
They put on an awesome show played some wicked tunes and really working the crowd. They played heaps a mixture of hard trance and techno. They played

Vitalic La Rock
Scott Brown Bass be Louder (played on 8 apparently)
Merly Dee Paradise
Polartraxx Inspiration

Amber Savage and Yoshi, finished up the night and played a quality morning set that had everyone rocking. Amber was rocking it hard behind the decks, not only can she play but shes a fair hottie as well

Think the highlight of their set was

Bartezz- On the move (Dumonde mix). gone but not forgotten (absolute anthem)

Overall the night was sensational as was the weekend, met heaps of wicked people. Cheers to everyone that made the effort to come up and have a chat and hopefully we can make it back up there soon

How was the lighting and stage production? I heard that the Transmission crew had the stage to be set up on the longer side of the Sports centre [instead of the shorter side which it always has been] - therefore more lasers, lights and speakers!!!

Posted by julianreynolds on Sep-08-2003 06:45:

honestly, thought the lighting was good, the lasers (think there were like 6 of the boys) looked wicked, and the stage lights looked pretty cool as well.

But the thing that suprised me was there was no decor??? I'm not a decor junkie or anything but the place looked pretty plain. Sure the lasers were cool, but it didnt look like they went to too much trouble in attempting to create a party vibe (was the only downer). System rocked hard (reemo had the ear plugs in) so it must of been good.

Yeah, we were a little shocked, because down here party organiser spend thousands on decor and it makes the place look crazy and really does create vibe. Every Picture tells a Story did i as do the NRG Parties down here and at $70 a ticket, I thought it was a bit rich honestly.

a mate of mine claims to have one of only two copies in australia, hellraiser musta borrowed it. by my calculations, playing it at -8 still equates to about 145bpm, but why? the sheer madness of it should not be tampered with!!!

Posted by waXology on Sep-08-2003 07:29:

Jules.... so it was good yeah? had a mad time friday and saturday... mad chat walking round paddingtong aimlessly following your girl and blaz around... just talking dj stuff...

Nah... That was Stevie. He's has a copy for years (lucky little prick). Its rare, but not that rare! Wikkid set from the Pharmacy boys! Harder than than a kiddyfiddler in a Kindergarten!

Posted by jizza on Sep-08-2003 07:47:

oops sorry for the careless presumption but me thinks i better have a word with rapid and sus his story out.

Posted by aphex_syn on Sep-08-2003 07:57:

Scot project also played a blinder of a set in Perth on friday And I dont normally listen to much hard trance. He's a very entertaining DJ - who hung arond the bar after his set happy to chat to the punters

Some of the tracks he played in Perth were

Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown (original) <-- he started his set with this and it fucking rocked bigtime
The Gift - Love Angel (MIKE MIx)
Digital Pressure - Unreal
Arome - Visions of Paradise
Scot Project - Rock (i think??)
Arome - Overdrive <--- finished his set with this
Some track with Beach boys - I get around sample in it
Some track with 4 non-blondes - Whats going on ?? sample in it
Plenty of hard acid tracks... - some bordering on goa/psy
with a smattering of more uplifting hard trance that I hadn't heard before

Twas one of the more memorable sets I have heard this year

it was probably Derb - Underground and i agree, it was quite rubbish.

arhhhhh... shit. sorry Rob, I forgot to ask reemo to call you. We had a picture of you and all, although it would of been little hard to find you in that crowd. Did anyone else ID any other tunes from his set. I was behind the speakers talking to Rob and Ben (Klasic&Sanders) and missed most of the action, hence 4 ID's (pretty soft). anyway, had a great time.

ps. just want everyone to know how much of a superstar bloke Cameron is!! (his a fucken champ). he must have the chicks all over him. Right???

Come on Sharpy, you know as well as I that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! While I can't say i'm a big fan of 'underground' I LOVE that 4 non-blondes track! Its fun (and got a massive response from the crowd!)

Each to their own!

Just wanted to say that there is an awesome gallery on ITM of transmission. There's a few galleries of it but theres one with about 140 photos and basically starts from when the production crew started setting up all the way through to the end. Prob best gallery I've seen on ITM.

Punters get more munted in Melbourne, hence they spend more time on their arses looking up at the ceiling, hence the need for decore

Transmision was pretty cool... thought I'd wouldn't enjoy it but Pee -wee and Nervous' set was good.

Wish I paid more attention to trance, all those years missed.
Might go to more of those events again.
