My Stupid, Stupid, Shite, Shite Car!!!

So it's around 12:30 on Saturday night and I'm driving around trying to find a friend's place. I'm passing through a rather dismal/sketchy part of South East DC where people are staring at me (the "what the hell are you doing driving through here white boy" stare ... you know what I'm talking about) when my stupid fuckin clutch dies on me . I'm stuck in neutral, can't get it in gear, nothing. So I call up the police asking them to give me a tow truck number (friend's phone was dead), and the fukers tell me they can't give me a number because that shows 'favoritism'!!!?? So they tell me to just walk around and find some place that has a phone book. Now I'm all for midnight strolls but this is clearly not a good idea given my present location .

So I yell at the dispatcher, "look, just open a phone book, pick a random page of tow trucks, close your eyes, and point to one!!!"

"I'm sorry sir, we just can't do that. If an officer comes along you can flag him down and he can order a tow truck. But other than that, you'll have to go into a restaurant or a bar to find a phone book and order a tow truck"

"Great!!! Well can I stay on the line so when I get mugged or the crap beaten out of me you can finally send me a police officer and a goddamned tow truck???"

"I'm sorry sir, this line is for emergency purposes only. Can I help you with anything else?"

"No. Thanks for all your HELP." [click]

Ok, so I'm walking around and I finally find a 7-11 to call a tow truck. Wait: 1 hour 52 minutes some 45 seconds. Cost: $145. I'm livid at this point. Get towed to the AAMCO by nation. AAMCO is closed on Sunday. Wonderful, I have to be at the client site in Philadelphia on Monday morning. So on Monday morning I cab it over there at 6am hoping they're open early. They're open so I beg and plead for them to fix it. They say ok. When they take apart my clutch assembly they find the problem: the clutch fork broke in half. Cost: $37.50. Cost to remove and disassemble clutch assembly: $400. So I say fuck it and tell them to replace my clutch as well since it's pretty worn down. Cost: $400. Total for my big pimpin, big spendin, bling bling weekend: roughly $1000 (includes case of beer purchased to console myself).

I most certainly got a visit from the butt pirates this weekend for some booty...

In any case...my car decided to burn whatever rubber it had left in the brakes...now everytime i try to brake, it sounds like metal on metal...I cant use my car and I have to wait for my father to come up from Miami and fix it...FIZZNUCK!!

I'll still be at Tronic Treatment this Wednesday and J00F & Marco on Saturday ...

Heh, you're in a not so good situation yourself. Your calipers are probably digging into your rotors. Looks like you're going to have to buy new calipers, new pads, and new rotors. That's about a $500 job per axle. I went through that a few months back as well.

Thats a shitty story man. I have one of my own too:

Well, about 2 weeks ago, I was at Giant getting steak-sauce for dinner, and I was pulling out of the parking lot, and all of a sudden, i hear *KUNK KUNK KUNK KUNK KUNK* really fast, and I am moving much slower. So i think "Fuck" and I try to backup(I was in the midst of turning, so I was blocking all traffic in the parking lot). So, I hear more *KUNK*'s, and finally I can't move at all anymore.

So, I turn off the car, pissed all the hell. And I have no clue what the hell the problem is. So, these 2 nice guys come up and see if i needed help, I said yeah. So they attempted to help me push my car out of the line of traffic so that cars could get by. Well, when we tried that, my car's front-right tire bent all weird and the car couldn't move any. So we look under the car, and it turned out that my whole axel popped out of the joint(CV Joint). Grease was all over the place. And the car couldn't be moved, and I'm blocking all this parking lot traffic.

So, some guy lets me borrow his cell-phone to call my parents(only like 3-5 minutes away). So, my dad and grandpa(who was over for dinner) come by and basically, we're fucked. My dad calls AAA to tow my car, and after about 2 hours(they said 30 minutes) they got to the Giant to tow my car. But, because of the disconnected axel, they couldn't use a flat-bed towtruck. So for the next 3 hours, we were calling tow truck companies. Some just blowing us off because they didn't want to deal with it. But finally, we found a tow-truck driver who was willing to do the job. We needed a Sling-type towtruck and he was apparently the only one within 50-60 miles who had one.

So, it took him about 20 minutes to get there, and then about 30 minutes to set up the rig. Then another 10 minutes to get to the car to the repair-shop.

Well, 2 days later the car was fixed, and it turned out that a 5-or-so dollar ball-joint NUT came loose, which in-turn pulled my axel out of the joint. Ended up costing about 600 bucks. Cars are a bitch.
