How do you mix hardcore!!??!!
Can any help me?
I've been bedroom djing for about 3 years and I can beatmatch near enough everytime when mixing hard house, trance etc. But I cannot seem to mix hardcore techno, as the two records together in the headphones just sounds like complete choas.
Has anyone got any tips - do I just try to line up the snares instead of the 200bpm kicks?
Thanks
I agree with you on the chaos idea. I've heard lotsa this stuff b4 and it would seem to be hard to mix!!
I'd say:
try to cue up a lul in the madness on the record you're bringing in.
then drop most of the bass on that cued up one as well and bring in the mid and highs first. then even out everything just b4 the chaos comes back into play. If the snares are the most common item of consistent tempo, then use them to beatmatch; if something else comes in and takes care of tempo, then u have to switch reference for beatpmatching real quick.
There's a big difference between transitions in trance sets and hardcore sets. hardcore transitions I must assume are quite faster, and sometimes abrupt.
in the end.... just keep playing around with any and all mixing methods!
I'd be interested in trying to mix from trance -> hardcore and back.
here's the way I see it done a lot of the time:
line the songs up real quick
slap the crossfader across at the end of a 64 beat segment
that's it
what you could do to make a transition is write a song that starts at 140 and then modulates the tempo to 200
Cheers for the help!
I'll give it a go...
