Rap lyrics r001
All of you haterz that think rap lyrics are frivolous obviously have no clue. Take, for example, these two fine specimens (from "Bia Bia" by Lil' Jon, and "Sippin' on some syrup" by 3-6 Mafia). Certainly nobody can deny their beauty. Yes, these are real lyrics from songs I've heard in clubs.
-----------------
Represent u ol pussy ass cake ass punk ass trick ass

Ay tell them niggaz what's up though
If you scared, get the fuck out the club nigga!
Bia Bia (Get 'em up, get 'em up)
Why you actin' like a - like a (Push 'em off, push 'em off)
Well get 'em up (Get 'em up)
Put 'em up (Put 'em up)
Stop actin' like a bitch and get yo hands up
Well where you from nigga (Where you from)
God dammit mother****** where you from (Where you from)
Say fuck that clique - say fuck that clique
Well you scared (You scared) - You scared (You scared)
Stop actin' like a bitch you scared (You scared)
Chyna Whyte don't suck no dicks or lick no nuts
Bitch I hit licks and flip bricks
Every two hours switch whips to keep the peoples off me
What you know about that No - Doz and coffee
No sleep, I'm lookin' 40
With three bricks in a 740
Bitch I ain't got time to party
I'm breakin' bread with Dominican niggaz
Over a hot Bennigan's dinner
Thinkin' how I'ma cop the 6 at the beginnin' of winter
Chrome it out and then fit it with timber, that's wood grain
What you ain't know, this a hood thang
All my thugs let ya wood swang
Bitches make ya ass clap
I'm takin' all y'all ASCAP and BMI
Catch me drivin' DUI
Look cause I don't give a fuck nigga I'm livin to die
Who on this track fuckin with me, y'all is willin' to try
Chyna Whyte the thug bitch with no feelings inside, mother******

I can respect rap if it's poetic and tells a story...this does neither:

Not when you make a thread sound serious
Drat... I was hoping the words "these fine specimens" followed by those lyrics would give it away. Or maybe the "Yes, these are real lyrics."

I caught the sarcasm...
but are they not real lyrics?
You see...in America, the rap scene is so horrible it's hard to sense any sarcasm when talking about it anymore. Hard to tell a joke when you got rap songs about some fucking shoes! (Referring to that Nelly tune).
Haha yeah the sarcasm was about them being good... they ARE very real, unfortunately.
I, for one, applaud Nelly's "Air Force One" (song about shoes) because it doesn't speak of killing, fucking, stealing, or anything else like that. It's meant to be a fun tune, and I kinda like it
.
On that note, I recently made a mix from some rap song into Stage One (slowed waaay down of course). The lyrics are like "Unh... yeah... and then he's all... Abandoned... in deep space"

7:30 AM, Alerted to life by a song on the radio
The evening is over
Another morning, another opportunity
To do something progressive prove that he's worthy
Up and out the door by 9 O'clock
The sun is shining up and down the block
There's children in the corner waiting for a bus
That will take them to school and exploit their trust
He starts the car, sparks with one crank
It's those good ol' fashioned American mechanics
And even though he'd rather own a new import
It's dependible and more important its all he can afford
Stops by the coffee shop to pick up some smokes and a cup of Joe
Back into the Ford with the windows rolled up
So when the radio rocks he can sing along freely
With the lights out it's less dangerous
At the top of his lungs the words burst through shameless
Pushing that dream, trying to beat the time
Oh well whatever nevermind
Nothing else matters when your knifing through traffic
Wishing it was a stickshift, it's an automatic
Listening to the road, voice of the nomad
How he'd love to leave drive away never go back
Wheels keep on turning, turning turning and turning
Alone is when he finally feels like a person
Light another Nat Sherman
Crack the window, feel the wind blow
Serenity tenfold
God bless whoever invented sunglasses
And while your at save the saints that work the fast food drive throughs
Objects are closer than they appear
Cuz when your by yourself there ain't one else to lie to
Talk radio gets a lot of play in his vehicle
It teaches him topics to dicuss with real people
So when he stops to get gas or hit that coffee shop
His neurotic ass can act like he knows a whole lot
Pour some sugar on me, my counterfeit personality
He's a loner gotti, he's a rebel
He's gonna drive the escort to the middle of that meadow
Thinking about how he can leave this city
Fill the tank and towards the water he'll flier
Maybe he should just go get a picture at the CC
And find a stool at the bar where he can stare at the TV
Either way tomorrow will be just like today
And that's all it takes to make the change
He loves to drive more than he loves being alive
And this town doesn't even know his real name
It goes bye bye Miss American Pie
Drove the Ford to the border to disturb the order
If only that he'd know that he wouldn't be missed
Maybe then he could have grown to exist
(repeated till the song fades)
real hip-hop... sometimes I don't understand why some TA's just can't chill the fuck out and respect each genre of music. If you don't know anything about it, just DON'T SAY ANYTHING. Ya know how pissed you get off when someone calls Scooter trance? Yeah. They don't know shit about trance, so they should shut up. If you don't know shit about hip-hop, shut up.

Oh, and to set the record straight. I used to listen to rap. I own all of DMX's CDs, the first Puff Daddy CD, 3 Busta Rhymes CDs, Drag-On, Juvenile, Jay-Z, Bone Thugs, Eminem & more.
The scene today is obviously shit...one of rap's greatest pioneers, Timbaland, seems to think so also. Last week he announced his retirement, saying that he is not happy with the current state of music.
Some of these newer artists need to remember that rap/hip-hop is driven by lyrics...not some "dope beat".
*NOTE* Only rap I will still listen to is X, Em, Bone & Nas. Plus, I'm starting to gain interest in Outkast (their new material is great from their CD that isn't released yet), The Roots and Talib Kweli.
