New track @ #2 in Australia
Heyy guys!
Last week I posted links to my latest two trax.
Zodiac is @ #2 in Australian Trance charts and Enchanted Kingdom is @ #4.
I didnt get as much feedback though as I wanted, so if you havent heard my trax please check them out and tell me your thoughts!
Enchanted Kingdom
Zodiac
I greatly appreciate any feedback in advance!
Kind regards,
Neil.
Hmm...the intro to this sounds a bit interesting. (for Zodiac) Didn't expect those breaks in the beginning. You got some interesting synths going on. It's an interesting idea, but I'm not 100% fond of it for some reason. Don't know why. It sounds like your playing with the idea of the 'trance' genre.
The melody is a bit 'predictable' but you make it up with some cool effects. Another thing I notice different is the absence of 'claps'. It makes the track interesting.
Okay...that part with the vocal...I thought that was so cheesey. I was totally turned off when I heard that part. It sounded like the the 'Stephen Hawking' speech synth. Well, whatever message your trying to convey, I guess, it works for that purpose - but perhaps a female vocal would've been better, instead of that crappy speech synth. (Although I've heard speech synths used well. For example I think it was 'Excelsis'. Some Hard Trance song.
After the break down, I think it sorta lacked energy. An element was missing. How long have you been producing? This is a review for Zodiac. I'll post a review of the other track when I get a chance. Keep working man. -Mental
Enchanted Kingdom -
Here we go...*cracks knuckles*
The deep synths, and the kicks aren' too bad. That 'plucked' synth is 'okay'. Nothing to go crazy over. Some of the synths in the intro, don't get my attention for some reason.
1:32 a string slowly comes in. It's sounding a bit better. I like the sound of this string. After that, the song takes a different note - in my opinion, it starts to sound a bit better.
Some standard trance percussion going on. The hi-hats/closed hats, rule. But your breaks aren't too shabby either.
At around 4:00 minutes - it starts to sound a bit interesting. It reminds me of a 'Darude' style track after that. Not that, that's totally a bad thing, cuz 'Darude' is improving a little bit. He's a better artist than 4 years ago.
Okay - when the bass changes after 5 minutes, it's starts to get more interesting. This track is definetly a different approach to 'trance'. Your style perhaps.
This track reminds me, of a track I made in my early days - although this is 10 times more professional, but I was searching for a 'new' sound, and tried whatever I could to make that new sound. So, I experimented with the 4x4 kick rule, and created my own synths (which were muddy) So I spent a year trying to find my own respectable sound, and with time, It's getting better. I don't really post anything, but some of my friends locally like my stuff.
Do you use Fruity Loops? I could swear I hear the '3xosc', and 'Pluck' plugins in these trax. Thanks. -Mental
Well they were two massive reviews! Thanks for that!
I must say I do agree on a couple of things you said.
Zodiac: I don't like cheese in trance, and the synth vox are cheesy. I was seriously undecisive about using them the whole time I was making the track, but in the end I thought I'd throw them in for something different.
I too think once the climax kicks in it isn't exactly peaking. More like an anti-climax. Though I was working on this track for 5 weeks and you might know when working on a track for so long you really do begin to lose the feel of the whole track. So I thought it might have just been me that thought it was lacking something at the main kick in.
I personally love the intro. I listen to a lot of classical and symphonies so I liked the way it all comes together to explode into the song.
I have been producing for almost 2 years now and yes I do use fruity loops! ..But the synths I use on there aren't the plucks(etc) it's just the standard kind of synths that I play with like crazy.
Anybody else out there care to spare a few words too!??
Regards,
Neil.
