YYZ safety ??? absolutely stupid!

i was watching cable pulse today, they said last night a car parked in terminal 1 and it was suspected of carrying explosives. later they found no explosives but they recovered some stolen security guard uniforms. i was saying, why cant they screen cars before people enter the airport? why wait for somebody to go park in the garage and set off explosives? i find the security system absolutely stupid.

umm, right, so you want to miss your flight while waiting in line for 5 hours for your car to be searched?

good call

umm would u stand in line and let the person bomb u, or would u hope to see some marshall take the bomber far away from u? if u know ur flight time, go early to the airport.

i'd rather take my chances with the bomb, than be stuck in some senseless search that would make me feel like i'm the terrorist...

hmm, ok, maybe you shouldn't leave your home at all then, you might get hit by a car, or should we go around and inspect every car on the road and make sure they're all safe too?

good point,

Don't forget metal detectors as you enter every building or bomb sniffers on the subway. We can never be too safe

well i was only talking about the airport not elsewhere. my point is, there should be more security at places where their are alot of spectators. thats how they have it in the states, they could have it here too.

are you gonna strip search everyone at a hockey game then? Or at a concert? Instead of getting better security, how about we figure out a way to find the terrorists before they plant a bomb, even better how about we find a way to get terrorists from feeling the need to terrorize at all.

Well, no, but the truth is that the logistics of searching every car are impossible.

There has to be a limit on how much we let terrorism fears run our lives.

thank god we don't have it anything like the states... maybe you should watch "bowling for columbine", it just might give you an insight into how safe USA actually is...

i agree with skipper.....
its gonna be a long drawn out process to rid the world of terrorists. I firmly believe for every terrorist you catch..three more take his place..fighting a losing battle. I personally REFUSE to let any organization use "terror" to run the way i want to live MY life...sure security is important but theres security and then theres retarded levels of security..

and my point is...i dont have one just commenting...

more people use the TTC than the airport everyday, and the loss of the transit system would cripple Toronto. Not saying that the loss of the airport wouldn't affect us, but the planes could land elsewhere.

ya seriously man...that's kind of extreme
you have to draw the line somewhere

even if the bomb went off in the parking lot, i doubt the number of casualtiesw ould be all that high, seeing as there aren't all that many people that owuld be around the car at that time

sure a lot of cars would be damaged, but i would rather a bomb go off there than say...on the subway during rush hour

then again i would rather NO bomb go off obviously

i for one though am not going to live my life in fear of what if a bomb goes off or whatever...its completely ridiculous

the media has canadians all anxious for no reason, nothing has even happened to us!

ok i agree with some comments, but not all. when i went to india 2 years ago, they had tight security at the airport. i just got out of my car and 5 seconds later this police officer taps on my shoulder and he asked me what am i doing at the airport, and he was this huge muscular guy and had a scary face. i told him im traveling back to canada. then he started asking me questions like wats my name, adress, etc. then he asked me to show him my ticket. after all that, he said i should be in the check in within 1 hour, becuase the chek in was suppose to close in an hour. ok after that i went in the line for check in, and this time a different officer shows up, he also started asking me the same questions, and i had the same answers. this happened 2 more times and i was screened 3 times by 3 different officers. it only took about 30-40 minutes for everything and then i boarded the plane. that is an example of how tight securty there should be, not only airports, but everywhere. one more thing id liek to say is that the guards shouldnt take long to do their job, they should do it fast and accurately so people could get on with life.

see, you're missing the point!

the root of the problem has to be found and its got to be addressed, it shouldn't have to be resolved by isolation and tighter security everywhere!
