Christian Bale is the new Batman!

Christian Bale has been cast in the starring role of Bruce Wayne in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming Batman movie, to be directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Emma Thomas. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of production for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Principal photography on the film is expected to begin in early 2004. The movie is written by David Goyer and Nolan, and will follow the early career of The Dark Knight.

Said Nolan, "What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for."

Robinov stated, "Now that we've found the best person to play Batman, we are really looking forward to moving ahead with the rest of our casting, and are excited about the exceptional group we are assembling."

Bale, who first drew critical attention for his starring role in Empire of the Sun, has starred in such diverse motion pictures as Little Women, Portrait of a Lady, Metroland, American Psycho, Laurel Canyon and Equilibrium.

Chris Nolan is the director. (Memento and Insomnia)

This movie is gonna be so badass!!

hopefully its a lot more like the first two films, but with modern effects etc...

no more gay robin and batgirl yuck!

a good baddie could be.....hmm cant think of any good ones that aint been done

MIchael Keaton was the perfect Batman.

and MIchelle Pfiffer was a damn fine catwoman

Though Eartha Kitt was the best catwoman...her voice did it.

I agree.. american psycho, and equilibrium were great movies! I think he'd pull of a cool dark knight!

awsome actor (loved american psycho), awsome director (loved memento), not sure about the producer. it will probaly better than the last two, but not as good as the first two. hope they get danny elfman for the OST, i would pay good money for that

the 2nd one was sooooooo goood.. i remember after watching it... i wanted cats to chew the living baajezzzusssss out of my hands so i could be catwomen... little did i forget... Im definately not caucasian .. just asian =)

this guy looks ok for Bruce Wayne, but I think Val Kilmer was the best.
