A friend recently told me that it was a very regional word.
Do you use the word hella?

bah, It's a slang term made up and used primarily by northern californians who simply can't say the three little words 'hell of a' that the slang term supposed to stand for. When you're in SoCal and you hear someone using that term in their conversation, you automatically know they are from NorCal(booooooo)

southern california people often use "grip" in the sense of a large quantity, like "that shit costs a grip"

I don't care about what people think from either region of cali think, as it's stupid to think one area is better than the other. Those people have issues

I see you are from S.F. Perhaps if you go to school in souther cali, then youll meet people who think youre whack if you say "hella."

I am from Florida...and in my few years out here, I have solidly merged the word "hella" within my vocabulary....it just happened over time, hehe. East bay peeps don't seem to use it.

And just so you know, I have an IQ over 160....screw that urbandictionary definition about it being used by peeps with low IQs.

i do use hella. and it is a norcal thing. i dont really care what other people think so i still use it. its part of my vocabulary that will not change. its just like peope in NY use mad. mad this and mad that. i thought it was wierd when my friend was visiting cali and he was using that.
