1. He is not famous, nor ever will be.
2. Ask Scooter.
Shane54 - Equinoxe 4 the same with DJ Quicksilver - Equinoxe 4
3 Drives - Greece2000 the same with DJ Quicksilver - Turkey 2000 (although it wasn't released,just in mp3 form)
J&R Project - Keep It Up (Original Mix) the same with D H T - Alone 2002
Luna Park - Space Melody the same with PPK - Resurrection
Michelle Nicol - Time the same with Clokx - Clocks
(the first ones are the originals or if you want the first tracks that came first out using the melody)
Noone was sued......so why should Kontakt be sued??At least he added some vocals
Edit:Also as a friend told me:

| And if i remember right at all, Picotto got some negative feedback from Armin about Like This Like That. Dunno if Armin did sue him though. |

I'm sure Konatkt got permission on a 5 year old buildup, and who cares really, this song actually sounds awesome.
it was my understanding that if u dont make any money of it, its ok. . . .
but watever happened to dj mystik? didnt he do something of the sort?
Heres 2 questions you have to ask yourself.
1. Do you not think that they got permission/paid royalties before they covered binary finary?
2. Even if they hadn't, and had been sued you wouldnt know anyway, would you?

| Originally posted by joeh funk einsatz must be a ferry corsten alias. Ransom - My Dance has also been known as Funk Einsatz - My Dance, and im guessing that randsom is therefore also a fc alias. |

the binary finary track is availible for reproduction with permission.
hence neo & farina's recent attempt aswell on the platipus label.
skip, you DO need persmission to copy melodies and all, adn you cant just credit tha original artist, you must have there permission and if the track is still licensed to a label, you must have the labels permission aswell (like positiva still own the rights to binary finary, hence hte re-release this yr inc ronski speed mix). the original artists does not automatically get royalties, they have to be agreed before hand if there are any at all.
another example is:
barbers adagio for strings is availible for reproduction without permission
because he's dead for one, and no label is going to re-release the original.

You're wrong, Skip.
In Finland you can play cover versions live (at gigs etc.) all you want but if you're going to put it on CD/vinyl you need a permission for it.
The only situations when it's ok to put cover versions on albums are:
A) The writer of the original/the label has approved it
B) The writer of the original/the copyright holder has been dead for a certain amount of time
C) No label owns rights to it.
Edit:
As far as the M.I.K.E./Scooter story goes, MIKE could sue them and win, easily... because Scooter's tracks are not covers - they don't give credit to the original, they just take the melody and insert it to their own tune.
Then again, I can't recall anyone saying MIKE didn't approve those versions...
are you sure about this?
damn! someone has been lying to me then!
i read a massive explanation of how this all goes somewhere, but i guess it was all bullshit then!
damn! sorry about ranting then since i don't even know anything!
Well, actually, there are so many interpretations of the law that I'm not entirely sure myself. I'd like to get me a copy of the Finnish Law book and settle this for good.
I know that in the 1960's most Finnish tracks were actually covers of British/American songs but... hmm...
